1 week to community shield which is important and 2 weeks to the league ko.
Hard to say with the window still open, and thank God it is because so far its been very underwhelming.
How do each of you think we will get on this season and what are the expectations.
Mine are the same as they were at the beginning of last season.
3rd place 4th at worst and 3 good cup runs winning one.
I've zero faith in the manager but see huge positives in the fact that his total coaching team from last year is gone. I don't know the reason why we kept eth but there is obviously a good reason that I can't see.
I'm. Not at all impressed by our signings for next season yet and I think it will be a couple of years at least before yoro is a top epl cb.
Some very good young players now at the club so that does bode well imo.
Lots of players still to come in and move out I'm sure the squad will look better at the end of the window.
We could do with a run of better luck on injuries let's hope for a positive season.

Top 4 should be the aim and a cup run, we should be one of the favourites for the europa espically now no champs 3rd place teams drop into it

Window wise has been poor, still have 5/ 7 players that shouldn’t be anywhere near the club and we’ve only signed 2 players one who’s now out for 3 months

Need to have a good start and avoid injuries

But we are 1 away from having a back pair of 2 of Maguire lind and evans

We need to pick the pace up on signings and departures.

03 Aug 2024 13:16:57
Signings have been very underwhelming.

If we are honest we are currently in a worse place than last season. Varane gone and Loro and Rasmus now out. So against city it will likely be Maguire and Lindelof/ Evans at the back. Not great.

I’m assuming they would have wanted more players in by now. But with no money in the pot it doesn’t appear possible.

03 Aug 2024 16:27:43
Pre season not finished and already injuries racking up. Still loads of dead wood we haven't gotten rid of and going into the new season with only zirkzee as a fit and ready addition.

After ETH's first season i was so excited for the transfer window and for us to push on but signings were terrible, season was all but over by Christmas. This window has been underwhelming but hoping RVN gets the best out of hojlund, zirkzee and rashford.

03 Aug 2024 16:53:05
Has the window closed early or something?

03 Aug 2024 17:13:35
You are correct, window is still open. But it’s far from ideal bringing in players very late in the window. You often end up paying over the odds and the players don’t have any time to settle in and instead have to learn the style, team mates etc whilst trying to win games in the premier league, not easy.

03 Aug 2024 19:08:41
Plenty of time before the window closes to add and to sell and I expect there will be 3 more in maybe 4 and 6 or 7 to leave but as you say it comes a little late for pre season obviously but I'm sure they're is good reason for the delays.

03 Aug 2024 19:43:31
I cannot see how 7 first team players will leave at this rate, no t a hope in the world. So far it’s been very underwhelming. Two 6/ 10 signings isn’t enough.

03 Aug 2024 20:22:52
It does feel like there is less movement overall this year, it might just be me and my assessment of it and its been as busy as ever. I wonder if both the big international tournaments and FFP are having an effect this year and we aren't going to see the level of spending previously.

03 Aug 2024 20:26:05
Pellistri hannibal lindelof awb mctom erikson casimero sancho 6 to leave fingers crossed.

03 Aug 2024 21:41:16
I see panic setting in lol. relax lots of time left till the window closes and long season ahead.

03 Aug 2024 21:56:02
Tumble

Honestly.

Right now we won’t make top four. Our fitness coach needs to be looked at and there are holes in the team yet to be filled. More will be done I am sure but if we want top four, the CM, CB needs focus. RB seems to be a higher focus than CM, which is hard to understand.

03 Aug 2024 22:22:45
Seems to me that there is really very little pre-season in football these days, and more compete football for longer. Just an observation.

The transfer window isn’t over by a long stretch sadly. I find the whole transfer window system frustrating and infuriating and xannot wait for it to be over every
Summer and winter it’s open.

03 Aug 2024 22:35:55
Who is panicking ahmad? Don't be daft.
I'm not sure it is more of a priority redman.
I'm sure there are reasons for not being done yet. It's not ideal but I'm sure some peeves will fall into place albeit later than we would prefer.
The full back position is key I think both ours from last session need replacing or strengthened for sure.
Yoro is by all accounts a good investment but not in the short term so I agree another cb is vital.
Cm is ugly at the moment but I expect a couple in and out.

03 Aug 2024 22:44:26
To use that horrible term this is a "process". It is unrealistic to expect one window to solve all our problems. It really might be a case of taking a step backwards to make better progress in the years to come.

We all know that there are still squad members who on in ideal world would no longer be there. For me if I can see a better structure and progressive attacking playing style (not running around like headless chickens) and most importantly that the players play with passion and we can see they are giving their all the that will be good enough for me this season.

Lastly I want to see that ETH plays players in their correct positions and has better tactics and that we just don't sit back and rely on counter attacking and moments of individual brilliance.

03 Aug 2024 22:47:20
I really wanted to be positive and am still on board with the SJR regime and seriously hope I am massively wrong (except for one?) ………………

6th place.

Exodus at the end of this season meaning the rebuild will be more prevalent 25/ 26.

No Champions league till 28/ 29

ETH gone by Xmas.

04 Aug 2024 01:46:10
Eriksen and cassemiro difficult to sell, I think eriksen might go for game time. Cassemiro wages and value in accounts make him very tricky to sell.

Looking like they have a few lined up to come, probably in time for first epl game. Ineos have been left a difficult task to sell players on wages far higher than market value. It will get better over time.

I hope we see a defense that can play a high line and play better in possession that will help to close the gaps in midfield and Onana will suddenly make more sense as a sweeper keeper.

There has not been a lot of transfer activity across our rivals in top half of epl.

04 Aug 2024 02:15:49
Having said that. If that is the timescale it takes then that’s fine. Softly softly catchy monkey.

04 Aug 2024 05:39:06
If we get Ugarte, midfield is fine, even if we see departures, we have youth available to bed in, Collyer as an example.
LB is fine, Amass will fill in.
CF is fine with the new young player from Arsenal.

Priority is defence to rid us of that donkey! At least JB and/ or MDL to come in.

Of course, if AWB departs, bang a RB in to provide a filler for a year or two.

Not too much to lock away if you look at it.

CB who we've been courting all summer and know the price required
RB who wants the move
DM who wants the move.

04 Aug 2024 06:56:08
The transfer market has died a death compared to a few years ago where clubs were spending money like it was going out of fashion.

With Casemiro, Sancho and Maguire staying, the deals for Ugarte and Mazraoui seem to depend on enough funds being raised from McT and AWB sales. That just leaves De Ligt and I guess if we have enough money left in the kitty at the end of the window.

With Maguire, Lindelof and Eriksen's contracts expiring next year we may have a bit more room for some signings, so maybe a bid for JB then.

04 Aug 2024 08:37:05
5th in the league and a UEFA Cup win would be a brilliant season. I think we should prioritise success in Europe as we must be favourites for that competition, and it delivers CL qualification.

Given our injury curse it’s confusing to see fans expecting top 4 and to go deep into every cup we enter. We bemoan the amount of deadwood and lack of quality in the squad, and in the same breath expect us to compete and get results in 65 games in a season. Football fans are a walking contradiction.

Eric I also look forward to the window closing as soon as it opens. We had a good amount of action at the start, but now it’s gone quiet for a couple of weeks and it really kills the mood. I do get the frustration and I too wonder why we haven’t got De Ligt in when it seems like an easy deal, but we still have 4 weeks left which is enough time to bring in 3 players and move more fringe players on. Next summer will be just as important for the rebuild.

04 Aug 2024 10:17:09
If we don't improve the midfield we will finish 8th again.
Very underwhelmed with the players we are linked with. Again we seem to be going for players eth has coached before. New set up same results.

04 Aug 2024 11:23:15
He's never worked with the main two we're linked with, Tom. Branthwaite and Ugarte. And he never coached Yoro. All 3 would be good signings. I think everyone feels a bit underwhelmed because of the injury to Yoro, having seen glimpses of the ability he has.

04 Aug 2024 15:30:31
Close tchance of winning the europa league imo wazza.
I'm not sure why you consider us favourites.

04 Aug 2024 16:11:43
Sorry typo. close to zero chance.

04 Aug 2024 18:32:04
It doesn’t matter why Ken, don’t worry about it ?.

04 Aug 2024 19:28:28
I'm not prone to worrying wazza it's not good for you.
