Are Utd interested in Rabiot. If we are why have we not moved to sign him as he is a free agent?
30 Jul 2024 08:30:14
His wage demands will be high and we already have two older midfielders who are on high wages (Casemiro) and medium wages ( Eriksen) that we need to move on first.

Hasn't he supposedly had problems with managers been accused of being unprofessional and is regarded as a difficult character. Not sure our dressing room or Ten Hag need that, plus he will be thirty this year.
Think someone likes him coming into. Ferries 90s dressing room would have been fine, don't think he is a good fit for this one though.
{Ed001's Note - no mate, he is hard working and never caused problems. It is his mother (who is, or rather was as I think he has employed a new agent this summer) who causes issues. She is genuinely an overbearing mother who can be a real pain for club staff to deal with.}

I really like rabiot as a player. Really good continuity player always available to receive and move the ball on. Works hard. Fit lad who plays his role in a team really well.

Also like Rabiot, he’d be an excellent signing and Cas replacement.
30 Jul 2024 20:03:49
Yes an ideal replacement for cas rabiot and ugarte in would be ideal imo.
200k pw for rabiot on a 3 Yr contract is surely close to the cost of signing amrabat.
30 Jul 2024 21:05:20
He works hard. sometimes. he is a good squad player no more than that. I would much prefer we brought in younger players with more potential.
31 Jul 2024 00:42:37
I think a mix is required a bit of know how is vital.
31 Jul 2024 07:48:15
Agreed Ken 28 is hardly collecting a pension and he’d add a lot of European experience to the side, as would De Ligt if he came in too. It would give us a good out-field spine of Martinez / De Ligt, Rabiot / Mainoo, Bruno and Hojlund.
31 Jul 2024 08:52:08
Would Rabiot get in to the City or Madrid or even Arsenal first teams? I doubt it. Yes he has experience yes maybe he works hard but that's not enough for me. I want to see Utd sign players who have a higher ceiling performance wise.
31 Jul 2024 10:55:49
Yes he would hold his own in any of those teams imo.
He is better than anybody on our books at the moment bar mainoo.
31 Jul 2024 11:19:15
Agreed ken. Didn't know he has a new agent, could be very important.
31 Jul 2024 11:37:43
Tumbleweed no way. The fact he is available on a free and none of them have apparently gone in for him shows they don't rate him better than what they have in their squad already.
31 Jul 2024 12:09:15
Rabiot is a very good player who regularly starts for France despite their plethora of talent.
He's technically excellent, a hard worker, defensively sound.
He's an upgrade on all our current midfielders including Mainoo right now. Although Mainoo has the talent to quickly become a better player than Rabiot.
He has great experience and if Casemiro leaves he'd be a great replacement who is currently a better player, had a few more years left in him at the top and would bring some top level experience to help guide the younger lads.
Literally the only thing that counts against him is his meddlesome mum, although rumours are that he is looking to employ a new agent, putting his mum into the backseat.
31 Jul 2024 12:45:52
No Rabiot wouldn't get into City or Madrid's midfields, but they are probably the two best midfields in world football. But he'd certainly be a better Rodri deputy than Calvin Phillips is.
We are not City not Madrid. We aren't that level. Rabiot would improve our midfield, which is streets away from the aforementioned clubs.
31 Jul 2024 13:31:59
I think he would hold his own in either of those teams. Is he better than what they have? In their 1st 11 no. In their squad yes.
31 Jul 2024 13:43:44
He is a very good player and gets ahead one of chouameni or camavinga in the French squad most games. I would be happy to see him in a United shirt. big game experience and has won many trophies.
At their age and his resume you always will have to pay the wages especially when he is coming on a free.
31 Jul 2024 14:06:28
Salford, if you’re judging a player on whether they’d get into City/ Arsenal/ Real teams then Yoro, Zirkzee, Ugarte are all poor signings no? None would go into any of their starting 11 despite Real wanting Yoro.
31 Jul 2024 15:59:53
Salford he get into the France team agmgead of real Madrid players so it may be no way in your opinion but a wc winning manager thinks differently.
