What are people's feelings about the announced redundancies? How much a year will it save the club? Maybe £12.5m or so? 250 x £50k average. That's about the equivalent of 1 year's amortization of Antony's transfer fee.
I guess it's all part of the process of modernizing and making us profitable again, but one wonders why, if there are 250 unnecessary people on the payroll, it's taken so long in the light of the losses the club has been racking up.
Perhaps, given the unpopularity of the Glazers, they were loath to do it themselves (or have their henchman do it). Imagine the stink had they made 250 people redundant. SJR gets something of a pass during the honeymoon period.

Never nice to see anybody lose their jobs. From a business perspective it needs to be done. We are over staffed regardless of what anybody earns or costs and that's not up for debate as far as SJR is concerned.
If they save 10m a year on players wages it wouldn't mean they employ people unnecessarily because they have more cash.

SJR is known for cutting costs across all of his business'. Streamlining things. Unfortunately that's just the way he does things.

A few weeks ago an article stated that their was so many employees been paid whilst working from home. I understand that Covid meant this had to happen. The amount of staff working from home was a lot if reports were true.

I think redundancy payments are tax deductible, I'm not 100%
Standard practice with a lot of mergers or acquisitions.

Yes was bound to happen. £12 -£15m is a lot for a business making little to no profit. I imagine this is partly funding the renovation to Carrington for the bead counters.

I don't want to see people lose their jobs but I also don't like to see SJR painted as a villan when I read elsewhere our I. T/ Communications dept has around 110 more employees than Arsenal and 90 more than Chelsea . how can that be possible?
