Reports we are going to make a massive bid for antony. not sure what that solves and sounds crazy to me to go blow a huge amount of money on another winger.
Would rather see the money spent on midfield and back four.
If there was any truth to it and it happens, i can see Rashford getting sold.
Clear eth is driving our summer plans, no other way to explain it including FDJ saga.

Total waste of Money if we do, money could be put to better use buying 1 or 2 premier league proven players, not 70m plus on another gamble, we already have many misfit wide players….
Clearly answers all the people that think ETH not having final say on transfers though….
We are certainly signing and trying to sign some strange choices, I accept that many of this is just journo’s making it up, because it’s an array of styles of play.
But as you read from what ex captain Willie Morgan says ETH is totally out of his depth, which is a concern ….

Maybe the thought is put rashford as the striker sancho and Antony wide
Ronaldo sold martial and rashford for the striker position.

Rashford as forward is pointless. he does not operate well in crowded areas and hates physical contact and putting his body around. Buying another winger for a crazy price is a bit of repeat of past years.

We do need another wide forward given that Sancho and Rashford are the only ones with more than 40 games under their belt as a professional. While both have had poor/ patchy form over the past 12 months.
That said I'm not sure Antony is the right guy. I like him as a player and think he has a high ceiling in terms of potential. That said he would be a gamble in terms of readiness for the EPL. It's a big step up and even in the Eredivisie he isn't the most consistent of players. Memphis Depay looked more consistent and robust before we signed him. For 35m it's a gamble worth taking, for 70m we could end up with egg on our face.
I don't see Antony as ready to come in and hit the ground running getting 20 goal contributions in his first season. He certainly isn't as ready for the move as Sancho was, and we have all seen how Sancho's first season went.

He is a fantastic player and I would love to see him at Utd provided we also bought a proper defensive midfielder.

I'm okay if we splash on the right profile of player.
FDJ hasn't set the world alight at Barcelona but he would have costed similar for a transfer.
For Antony in terms of league and the crowd to he gets to play for is a step up.
Malacia, Antony and Lisandro joining is a step up and they have room to improve and become better.
Eriksen is a free, and again United are a step up over Brentford.
Frenkie coming from Barcelona is another Di Maria written all over it, high wages, unhappy player, a team in transition that will take a little while till it becomes consistent if ever.
We should stop going for these star players and instead look for good young players that can grow.
Personally I'd be happy to see more permanent outgoings than incomings because I feel these unhappy players will keep leaking and making things worse no matter who comes in.

How many players do we have to be connected with or buy because ETH is comfortable with them by previous connection, before it clicks with the board his transfer attitude is safety. That safety will bring players who looked good in the Dutch league, like a small CH, but not necessarily up to the level of the top league in Europe. Someone at the club needs to wake up quickly and review this strategy. We need a goal scoring forward, a CF, not another winger. If I was Garnacho and they bring in another winger I would leave.
I did not start with a strong confidence in ETH but these connections to purchases are not filling me with any confidence, comfortable slippers scenario.

I agree Blackpool but we are not going to purchase a striker
Ronaldo should have been let go at the start of the window and the stuff with greenwood has left us with an injured martial
There’s no strikers out there that are value in the market unless we are looking at another over 30 striker.

Personal opinion on Antony is overrated and a bonehead move if we do pay what's being reported.
The PSV guy is actually a better fit for us and a price where you don't take a bath if he can't handle the league. He is bigger too. would be nice for a change to get some height into our team.
A lot of them more suited to play in Germany or Italy than pl imo.

We need central midfielders before any other position as we cannot control any game, therefore any other positions we do sign if antony will not be able to shine. Look at the previous 2 games our forwards are not in the game as the ball keeps being lost in midfield and the opposition attack our goal. Its been happening for 3 seasons. The only time in that period we've looked ok is when all the players were set up defensively/ compact and hit on the break.

I'm with Red Man. To throw out Ralf's recommendations, and the players we have been scouting, and then just focus on Ajax and Dutch players is digging a bigger hole. We really are run by rank amateurs.

Agreed Tony, if they were serious, RR would still be there to help run the show. But they don't want that.
