Got to say I'm quite embarrassed with part of our fan base who are giving up on our new manager already when he was the Messiah a few weeks ago.

If anyone thinks our current woes have anything to do with the manager is the biggest joke I've heard.

He has walked into a club where the highest profile player is throwing his toys out the pram, he can't change the team around because our squad is too weak (and no you don't throw kids into a toxic atmosphere like this), half the team don't want to run and our negotiating team is as useful as Luke Shaw's dietitian!

It's 2 games in and it's been dreadful and will get worse when the Scousers come knocking but we wanted modern football and that is what ETH plays. These players are not going to learn technique overnight and we can't buy a whole new 11 (seemingly we can barely buy a first team player) so he needs time.

Direct the blame where it needs to go and protest on Monday against our scumbag owners and stop blaming the manager. That's what they want.

Agree0 Disagree0

LFC fan coming in peace.

While I agree with what you’re saying Obi surely you have to place some blame at the feet of ETH. He needs time of course, but the response from the players hasn’t been there and IMO you need to hold the manager responsible for that ?‍♂️.

I’m not starting the slagging cause I’ve supported Liverpool long enough to know how it feels. and I fully expect you guys to respond with a performance at old Trafford next week. If these lads getting paid serious money can’t be fired up for that game you’ll know somethig is seriously wrong!

From what I'm reading on the site we have a couple of regulars who aren't writing EtH off but reserving judgement until they see more from him. While also saying the last two games have been a bit of a disaster. Which I think is fair.

Then there are a few new posters (or solitary poster with several accounts) who seem to be trying to beat the drum and start an anti-EtH sentiment.

Anyone who has judged a manager after 2 games, especially in the context of us coming off the back of our worst ever EPL season and the utter shambles that is the rest of the club. Then Frankly they are either a WUM or not playing with a full deck.

There are well respected posters who are able to say they aren't blown away with EtH's first couple of team selections, or that they hoped he would have the side playing better already without writing the guy off.

A sensible approach. Nothing wrong with being skeptical, we have had several false dawns after all.

Personally I think he's a very good manager and seemingly everyone who works within the game really rate him as a top manager. Whether he's a success at United remains to be seen. If he's properly backed and well supported I think he can be a success. My concerns lie more with the club that have consistently undermined managers and not backed them as they should, making their job practically untenable.

Will their actions throw another manager to the wolves? Hopefully not, but let's wait and see.

Top post Obi.

Not sure anyone is blaming EtH, we all know the situation he has walked into though.

Having said that I do believe he has made a couple of miscalculations, thinking he could coach the shower that is our team to be better players (part of the resson they gave him the job) not listening to Ralf or taking any of his advice and continuing with Maguire as captain.

These are early days for him, he is finding his feet in a toxic situation. We all expected a bumpy season, at some point if he is the strong character we all believe he is he will drop Bruno, McFred, Rashford, Maguire and DDG and start playing the kids.

For me a midfield of Rabiot, DvB/ Iqbal and Eriksen, upfront Garnacho, Sancho and Ronaldo/ Martial, assuming we make no more signings after Mrs V son, would make a decent base on which to build next year.

Im not giving up on him, its everything around him I've lost faith in. Alao know that those responsible will blame eth and he will ultimately pay the price for their mistakes. Its an all too familiar story for us.

I agree but getting our as . handed to us by brentford off all teams is hard to swallow. We need to show some spine and fight. the manager need to bench guys who don't have the stomach for it. lose showing some fight. sending out the same wet noodles and some questionable team selection and tactics is not winning him any new fans.

Nonsense, what is with this virtue signalling or policing of other peoples opinions.

Were not allowed to question Ten Hags decsions until a set date.

Were not allowed to question DDG vs Henderson because DDG was okay last season and henderson was outspoken in the media etc.

The fact is as ed001 suggested underneath, ETH looks like a fish out of water in the premier league:

1.) he says he's been surprised by how Brighton played long balls because they normally keep posessions, well that's the premier league, teams can adapt and play more than one way.

2.) he's signed a 5ft 9 centre back and the only people who bring up when his height is questioned are Fabio Cannavaro (one of the few CBs to win the balon d’or) and javier mascherano (played in arguably the great club side in football history) .

3.) in the past two games he's played eriksen as a striker and a holding midfielder when he's played 95% of his career as an advanced midfielder or out wide.

4.) He proposed the signing of Marko Arnautovic having worked with him at FC Twente, what was he thinking?

He needs to step up his game big time and make some big decisions.

If he's not getting the backing from the board he agreed to when he signed then he should walk come september like Antonio Conte would.

I just can’t believe how a managers supposed to come in and be 100% switched on to a league that he’s never managed in. Pep looked like a fish out of water for crying out loud.

Give ten hag a chance. And aim all your toys at the poor poor ****** poor recruitment team throwing ten hag under a bus, headed by a woodwards ex right hand man buddy whos headed by parasite ownerS that make calls on something they have no idea what they are doing and sucking the club dry of every ounce of life it once had. Once them leeches have gone then this club will move forwards, until then winge about the manager and next manager all you like, they can't all be bad. This lot could make pep and klopp joint managership look like a sunday league outfit.

He’s found himself smack bang in the middle of an almighty mess. DSG, you make some valid points regarding Eriksen and his selections but I very much doubt he could envisage that shambles on Saturday.
I have honestly never seen such a weak group of players. They crumble instantly something goes against them. Ten Hag would’ve spoken with Maguire before making the decision of captaincy and probably heard all the right things, he now has to grow some giant bollocks and switch things up or the pressure from media and some fans will be unbearable.
Shaw needs dropping, he’s a weak individual, and I’m not being cruel, he is just not up to it. Maguire the same. All his shouting and fist pumping AFTER a goal has been conceded kills me. I can’t bear to watch him one more game.
Bruno’s ineffective in this team, he’s a luxury player who would flourish again at PSG or Bayern. Rashford I’m lost for words how bad he’s become. McTominay and Fred no more needs to be said about them.
Lastly De Gea, he is past his peak unfortunately. He’s never been mentally strong, although he’s had some outstanding individual games over the 12 years. He comes out, speaks to the media, says sorry and puts his hands up (more so than at corners) which is admirable but we need to looking for a replacement.

15 Aug 2022 21:17:09
DSG, I don't think anyone is saying people can't question things.

It's more the people who have made up their mind that EtH isn't good enough and will fail after just two games.

Be skeptical, have your opinions, question decisions, tactics etc.

But surely it's too soon to have come to a definitive conclusion that EtH is a failure.

he fought to keep VDB at Ajax- and yet he doesn't play him.

He played Eriksen as a defensive midfileder.

He bought and played a 5ft 9 CH against 6.ft 3 striker . plenty more of that to come btw . Brentford manager said of course we targetted him

He bought Malacia and doenst start him.

No, i'm not convinced.

16 Aug 2022 07:02:28
I said on appointment I will need to be convinced about ETH. No experience in a top league, it has shown in both his initial games and recruitment so far. It’s naive and displaying the same traits as Ole and Moyes, in thinking like they did at Everton and Cardiff. This is a different level and ETH needs to quickly up his game, 5 foot central defender shows a lack of understanding of what he has set foot into. Going after playmakers when we need something stronger in midfield and a lack of goal threat is very worrying.
First impressions are not good so far, the heralded coach must improve, look beyond players he has trusted before. I remain to be convinced and that has been my position since appointment.

16 Aug 2022 07:28:37
Red man. Utd are not shopping for the worlds best. Deal with it and let the manager do his job first.

16 Aug 2022 08:24:04
fzz

56 mill for central defender and 5 years guranteed contract is up there with the most expensive transfers for a defender in this window. You are right though he is not world class.
