I've seen posts down this page already slating rabiot he played nearly every game for Juventus.

He is not a progressive passer in that team because its not his role.

He is a lot better than fred and mctominay.

Should be given a chance and he was on the radar for us a few years ago and then he went Juventus had a fairly standard career there.

If ten haag wants him then I will back the manager.

Ten haag will give all the players a chance before he sells, expect a couple more bad performances before you see any improvement.

I'm very confident he will find a way to get us playing some good football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Big V. I think at the price it leaves the door open for another major midfield addition if one comes available.

The window should be evaluated when it closes.

Rabiot hasn't torn up trees but I think he would be a very useful addition and given the pedigree of clubs he's played for, plus internationally, clearly has something about him and is worth a look.
Re: Arnautovic I thought he was a decent player at West Ham and could have made the jump up. Since then he's made a few bizarre choices and of course been a bit of a prat. Given the vitriol the mere mention of his name is attracting on here without even signing it would be a massive error to bring him in.
The bigger concern is, why go to such lengths to remove all the trouble players, only to bring two more in? Not that they should be tarred with the same brush, one is certainly an undesirable individual and the other just seems to attract negativity wherever he goes (Rabiot pulled out of the last World Cup squad as he wasn't guaranteed to start, and practically would his PSG contract down for years much like Pogba did here) . If the latter could move on from that I reckon Rabiot is a great option.

They gave 80mil, we signed Maguire,
They gave75mil we signed Sancho
They gave 50mil, we signed Bissaka,
They Gave 60mil we signed Varane
they gave 45mil we got fred, another 45mil for bailly.

And we don't understand why they are now Circumspect about dishing out more cash.

Am I looking at it the wrong way, maybe I'm missing something.

Or is this reality?

It is the usual combination of things, United drag on transfers for too long. They should have set a deadline back in July and stuck to it, sign or we move on, instead we lingered like a lovesick teenager hoping for one last shot.

The performance and result on Sunday added to the fire, started off ok, but confidence crumbles pretty quickly once we go behind.

EtH has to be bold now, you don't start performing your gone, play the kids. I believe we would all accept a mid table season if we played the kids with a few older heads and watched them develop.

Lastly I think EtH has to drop both Maguire and Bruno for Brentford. They are the supposed leaders of the team, but neither are leading in either performance or mentality. Drop Eriksen in as no.10 and Varane for Maguire. Garnacho needs to start ahead of Rashford and Rabiot starts ahead of McFred with Donny/ Iqbal as the Box-2-Box midfielder.

On Rabiot, if we were a serious club it should of happened a month ago.

If Rabiot is joining as a second midfielder alongside someone like FDJ, SMS or Tielemans, that allows someone like Garner to head out on loan then it's not the worst idea. A player to replace Matic in the squad.

If however he is the only midfield signing then he isn't a significant enough upgrade to make us strong enough to break into the top four in my opinion.

While his creative passing numbers aren't a whole lot better than Fred and McTominay's, he has far better technique and is far more press resistant while offering similar defensive output.

The only other aspect that could be an issue is his mother. Apparently she is overbearing and causes issues, while the player himself has not caused any real issues of note bar an ill-advised night out in Paris after his PSG side were knocked out of the UCL by United. He's certainly no Joey Barton, and I'm sure he isn't under investigation for domestic violence and sexual assault.

His mum just seems to think she has to micro-manage his entire life, even wanting to sit on the side lines during training sessions. She's the issue not him, Juventus by all accounts are more keen to transfer out Veronique Rabiot than Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot alongside FDJ looks better than either of Fred or McTominay alongside FDJ.

Although not great he is better then what we got, you can’t keep moaning about McFred then continue to moan and find fault with every potential replacement, let’s face it we not a top 4 side, so no point trying for top tier players we have to look below top tier. sad but true I’m afraid, so if he can do a job let’s go with it and fingers crossed….

Also Ten Haag is not 100% clear of blame from Sunday, it was a poor line up totally wrong IMO and very poor tactics indeed, so let’s not put no blame on his shoulders too, let’s hope he learns from it, that’s the key! He got a quick lesson in the premier it’s not the Dutch league and may also made him think actually the players I had in mind might not be good enough either!

MBD its not their money they are giving, these leeches took out their dividend even when club had its worst every finish. Also all the money wasted was wasted by the moron they hired and they promoted and they kept on despite it being clear for years that the moron hadn't the slightest clue what he was supposed to be doing.

Rabiot isn't the worst signing but it does make a bit of a mockery of this whole “good attitude” brigade.

I mean i struggle to see the difference between pogba/ raiola and rabiot/ mother.

I was under the impression that after getting rid of the so called bad eggs of pogba, lingard and henderson we were going to stick good honest family men who go church on sundays like Fred and Mctominay.

The thing is with Rabiot, his mums an idiot, and he’s a bigger idiot if he let's her rule his career.

It’s well known in football circles that these two players are problematic. And let’s be fair, Juve don’t have a reputation for letting good players go in a hurry. So surely we’ve done due diligence on them and are aware of the pitfalls. What makes us think that they’ve changed or can be handled?

09 Aug 2022 13:43:32
Maybe TH thinks he can get something more out of them, then he clearly thought that with the existing players, maybe they are TH choice! We don’t know, I doubt if they are not his choice, the club seems to have only chased what he wanted so far……. what worries me is none of them looked world beaters, the ones we signed or not signed…. let’s hope TH learns quickly because he looked a big bit lost on Saturday!

Fair point mbd but we are a poorly run club from scouting and how we have wasted money on average players and the appointment of senior executives and coaching staff.

A lot of this is down to leadership and owners put these guys in charge.
