If the rumours are true this morning that Ronaldo has re-iterated his desire to leave for a Champions League club then I think we need to act for the benefit of the current season.
His agent has been trying to get a deal done and the reality is that there is not one out there, this may change towards the end of August when clubs get panicky. However, this situation should be resolved now. We should release him, ensure in the agreement that we pay no loyalty bonuses and save the upwards of £26m from his salary next year. If we do not then the balance and team work that has built could be lost.
The club can then look to bring in someone whether that is just Antony or another Centre forward and then work with what we have.
We know this is a multi year rebuild, if he wants out do it quickly and we will benefit as a whole club.
Love Ronaldo for what he has done, we can't allow for that to blind us to the current issue.

I don’t see why they should realise him, Manchester United should get a transfer fee for him. Juventus got a nice amount from us.

Agreed Ken, and not let him anywhere near the playing squad. See what he thinks about the prospect of playing no football at all for a season. That should focus his mind.

For me, I would let Ronaldo play in the first team no problem if he came out and said he changed his mind, why cut your nose off to spite your face. We know he scores goals and then you have 12 months to look for a replacement. Our budget this summer surely needs to go on some midfielders to replace Pogba and Matic.
