For a team under strict financial constraints with limited money to spend, Barcelona are spending big, Raphina, Lewandowski, Kounde price now agreed? FDJ must be fairly p. ed off, they owe him millions in back pay, want him out, and now want a huge pay cut too. I'd be out the door and suing them for my money.

I don't know how true this is but I read over the weekend that if they don't sell FDJ they won't be able to register Raphhina, Lewandowski and Kessie in La Liga because they won't be complying with Financial Fair play rules.
But in typical Barcelona style they just keep buying, apparently it's Jules Kounde next.

I'm more concerned with us than them.
Time for us to bite the bullet give him 72 hrs to give a definitive answer then eth has to tell club to move on.
It's too much of a gamble.
If fdj is happy to stay at Barcelona and play cb for half his money then he is not what we need imo.
{Ed077's Note - we should have done that sometime ago. Need to either complete the deal or move onto other alternatives.

Totally agree Ken. If he’s convinced by us, then that’s totally fair enough and all we need to know to move on. There are plenty of players out there that can do an equally good job for the same or less money, and who I’m sure fancy a move to Utd.
Quite frankly, if I was at Barca. I’d do all I could to stay there too!

I really hope this comes back to bite Barcelona hard. I would love for them not to be able to raise the funds through transfers, and clubs walk away from deals with them because of how difficult they are being. I know they have a TV rights deal in the background which could raise cash, but I really want to see their president panic.

It does seem like they are treating their playing staff very badly. Imagine your employer asking you to take a pay cut / defer wages but then also spend a fortune buying and signing a bunch of high cost high wage players at the same time. It is mindblowing how current players put up with it and why on earth any new player would chose to join.
Best part is that Barcelona is still more attractive than Man Utd. Agree with above, bring in some players who are excited to join the revolution in rainy Manchester.

Surely there is separation between the business and the footballing side of things?
Laporte might want to move on FDJ to generate funds and reduce the wage bill but if Xavi intends to play FDJ regularly and in the correct position then why should FDJ care what Laporte wants?
Maybe Laporte told Xavi that the only way he can have his new signings is if FDJ leaves but what does it say about Xavi if he is prepared to discard FDJ in this way? Surely all the other players would lose massive respect for him as their coach if this is what they see him doing?
It's a really weird situation but you can see why Utd think they might have some leverage. I think Utd should keep at it and get into some brinksmanship with Barcelona because if they can't complete their other signings with moving on FDJ then they will have some explaining to do to Kessie, Raphina, Lewandowski and Kounde who could all be left holding their wing wangs 'cos Barcelona cannot complete their transfers.
In fact, I think Utd should approach all four of those players and see if they can poach them from under the noses of Barca.
In the meantime, Utd should concentrate on trying to sign a quality alternative to FDJ. It would not be terrible if Utd ended up with SMS and FDJ.

Xavi told fdj last night he will only be considered as a cb and he must take just under 50% cut according to all reports.
Xavi does not want to play fdj in midfield he needs him to leave so he can register the other players.
We can't approach them they have contracts with Barcelona even if they can't register them to play.

Ken, if Barcelona don't have funds to pay the selling clubs then I don't see how can those players be under contract with Barca? The selling clubs have already agreed a fee so they are open to selling plus the players have already agreed to move. If these players face being unregistered for a season at Barcelona then they either stay where they are or they look for an alternative club to move to.
As for the cash? ; Utd has money to sign players and if SMS and FDJ are signed then Utd can sell Fred and/ or McTominay and/ or Garner. What's the problem?
FZZ; it's messy and that means there are opportunities to take advantage. What's not real about that? For example; Kessie doesn't have a club so if Barcelona can't afford to pay him his signing on fee, what's he going to do? Where's he going to play next season? You tell me.

Manc man they have signed contracts and the clubs will be paid.
Transfer fees are not the primary issue it's their wage bill new players take them advice their salary cap so they need to offload players to clear wages to register their new signings in la liga.

Lewindowski and Kessi are signed players for Barcelona they are owned by barca. But still not registered to play in la liga due to the salary cap.
Don't you think bayern would have an issue with lewandowski being there if he was not transferred?
The problem with talking about stuff you don't understand is that you jump to wildly inaccurate assumptions. (None of us understand it all not just you) so just wait and see.
There is so much we don't know or understand which leads to people getting half a story and making there mind up to slag off our own club yet they have no idea what their talking about.

Anyway, my apologies because I didn't realise Lewandowski, Raphinha and Kessie had already signed for Barca. I thought their transfers were in progress and held up by lack of funds. My bad for misunderstanding the situation.
As for Utd selling McTominay and Fred, I don't understand why that is a problem. Hopefully they will be sold at some point because Utd have better players to replace them. You're not suggesting Utd are stuck with them forever? Eek!

We can't replace everybody in 1 window you know that. It will take time to evolve in 3 windows time the squad will be very different.

Ken you can’t say one minute that Ten Haag is top of the tree coach/ manager then not trust his judgment on FDJ…. Clearly he been in conversation personally with him, so just let it play out… whatever will be will be, personally I would not want him after seeing him play many times for Barca, but Ten does so let him take as long as he wants, Ten can’t be stupid enough to put all his eggs in one basket so let’s just see.
Only a hand full of people know what’s happens with the FDJ saga and none of them are on here, not even the Ed’s have any idea, it’s a strange one, but there is a reason.

I agree with you on nobody knows what conversation has taken place between fdj and eth.
Running down the club at any excuse has become a fun sport for many over the list few years so you have to take what some folk say with a pinch of salt.
ed002 does have the best info and will only be telling us what he knows. He will have his sources and that's what he has heard but I think the fact that Barcelona want him out and we want him badly might be enough to convince him to hook up with his old mentor.
Ed002 has said the club will try to convince him to come and with Barcelona trying to convince him to leave he might well take a leap of faith and join. Fingers crossed.
Like you I prefer sms but it's not my team and my job so supporting the manager with his 1st choice is the right thing to do of its possible imo
