Ornstein now confirms Ronaldo is looking to leave.
This complicates things for us since we haven't signed a striker. I'll be very surprised if we make top 4 now.

Record champions league goalscorer wants to keep playing in the champions league, pretty understandable.
However i struggle to see many champions league clubs wanting to pay those wages for a 37 year old.
Might be a blessing in disguise for Ten Hag though if he were to leave.

From my experience we don't like to replace when players leave.
Ronaldo left last time we didn't replace him.
He leaves today, we probably don't replace him.
Martial or Rashford can't score anymore.
Top 4 would have been a fight this season. If Ronaldo leaves top 4 is almost gone.

The way we are run, won't be surprised if Ronaldo left and FDJ didn't come.

Tbf, I can understand why he'd want to leave - United in the Europa isn't an attractive proposition.
Personally, I think it's possible that EtH could get a tune out of Rashford and/ or Martial. If he can get them to engage in the high-press system and actually work for the ball, one or both could hit 20+ - they each have it in them, they both just need to be managed properly.
Additionally, the likes of Garnacho, Hugill and McNeil could flourish.
Let's face it, United are nowhere near the table of elite-level strikers so, whether or not Ronaldo leaves, we are limited to what we have.
One season will confirm whether or not United need a new striker.
If we finish, as is likely, outside the top 4 and our options have been disappointing - then it's a disaster.
Give him a season, let him coax what he can out of those who have let themselves down, then see where we are.
I believe Rashford especially has the potential to deliver - injury-free and no longer slapped all over the media where the criticism thrives, he could be like a new signing.
I'm hoping that EtH can get him, Sancho and Elanga performing with pressing, tracking and ruthless desire for goals - they all have it in them.

You cannot go into a season with Rashford and martial.
A couple of years back we had Cavani and Greenwood.
We had 5 strikers last year.
If you think rashford and martial will pull up trees you'll be pleasantly surprised.
You have to sign a striker, be it a Belotti on free, or Schick or someone else.
Everyone else bar Ronaldo forgot how to put the ball in the net.

Firstly, for clarity, I've not said that Rashford or Martial are definitely going to turn up.
Secondly. Schick would be a great addition - but would he want to come to United and sacrifice CL? I don't think so.
Thirdly. Don't give me Belotti. He got only 8 goals and 1 assist from 1,376 minutes in Serie A - as a main striker. Rashford got 4 and 2 from 1,233 minutes in PL from the flanks.
Belotti would solve nothing.
Let's be real, United will not get a Martinez, Schick or Osimhen this summer - not a chance.
So, would you all rather sign strikers who would likely score little more, if more at all, than Rashford or Martial?

Woggle, no one will get Martial or Rashford to press. This involves hard work. You're brought up with that mentality. Some people work hard, others don't.
Martial went to Spain and they couldn't wait to get rid of him as he's a lazy git.
Did you see some of Rashford's matches last year? He was not bothered to run 2 yards.
Greenwood was the only player who could have replaced Ronaldo, but that's not going to happen.
