Looking like we are aiming to get 5 players in:
LB, CB, DLP, CM, RW

Malachia - £13m
Martinez or Torres - up to £42m
De Jong - £56m
Eriksen - free
Antony - up to £60m

I don't think our budget would be nowhere near as high as £171m though.

Knock off £10m for Pereira going to Fulham sure but there isn't a great prospect of generating more than between £5-10m each for Bailly, Jones, Tuanzebe and given their salaries they are proving hard to shift. Martial has no takers. Rashford has no interest in leaving though clearly needs to improve from last season.

I think we will be in for Martinez and Antony though budget wise, unless by some miracle we do sell more players, its surely looking like either of them and not both?

Squad wise you could argue both positions have cover given Amad, Pellestri for RW though suspect they may be loaned out again.

Interesting few days ahead as we are clearly trying to sign deals off in time for the tour starting.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have saved around 50 million in wages from the free contracts that have left

Add the 25 percent in wage drop for no UCL if that makes much difference

Im hoping jones bailly telles awb martial go, will tunzebue leave aswell as williams although i like williams

But if we get de jong this lb a cb and a forward plus a late cm addition depending on sales i think that will be a great window

Let tan hag and his proper coaches coach.

Can not wait for the season to start

Come on the boys.

Bailly, Jones, williams and Telles will go i think. Martial will be pushed out, frees up a few quid and wages.

I agree with your summary on expectations.

Long shots might be Timber and or Dumfries.

I’d love a Berbatov moment and have Rice joining on deadline.

Desperate at CDM.

FDJ

Sancho

Bruno

Subs:

Martial
Garnacho

Ronaldo dumped in the U23’s then Wallace!

{Ed014's Note - don’t you have an over 40’s team?

29 Jun 2022 08:31:30
Oops! Forgot about Ronald’s!

We need a CDM, FdJ at Ajax had Lasse Schöne doing most of the defensive work giving him the freedom to do what he does best. Sangare would be perfect as his passing stats are good and he gets through an incredible amount of defensive actions.

Thinking about the first team squad, just so many players going to be available or contention, particularly thinking about younger players such as Garnacho, Alvarez, mejbri, Levitt, Galbraith, SavGe, fish etc etc (not to mention McNeill Hugill etc, plus really exciting younger teams who are meant to be even better)

Maybe United will use the loan system to better effect now like Chelsea have done so well to blood the top talents and make money on others who deemed best to move on.

As side note, competition for too 4 (and top 6) going to be really intense this year, what with big 6 plus Newcastle, Villa, West Ham and Leicester in the mix.

Can’t wait!

I don't think we will sign a "dirty work" CDM this summer.

I think we will play one of Fred or McTominay alongside FDJ this season.

Then next summer if West Ham become reasonable then I think we will go big for Declan Rice as our "marquee" signing next year.

29 Jun 2022 11:27:11
Rice is too quality.

Lots of money though Shappy.

29 Jun 2022 14:11:30
Angel, he is, but then if you want to sign players who are proven and have potential to improve then they all cost a lot of money.

Cheap players are the ones you take a chance on. Malacia for example might go on to be a top class LB for us, or he might go on to be Buttner mark 2.

The thing is he has played a few seasons in a much less competitive league and hasn't played at UCL level. As such no one will spend upwards of 50m on him.

However, if he signed for someone like Dortmund for example and was excellent in the Bundesliga and UCL for a season or two then maybe bigger clubs might start looking to pay 50m for him.

29 Jun 2022 15:07:45
But it's that inflated English player prices. Hoping ETH and staff do their jobs and find a player equal or better for less money.

29 Jun 2022 15:46:20
Angel, I think Rice will eventually be sold for between 60-80m.

Which is what FDJ would cost, and similar to what Tchouameni just cost Real Madrid.

There's normally an English tax, but then there always is going to be when clubs are required to have a certain number of homegrown players in their squads.

The same is true to Spainish players for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

{Ed002's Note - Because he moved to Spain there is a pretty significant additional cost for signing Tchouameni that Real Madrid have to pay.}

29 Jun 2022 17:45:57
Rice would be my number one target every year. Plus he doesn't run funny so even Fergie would have signed him.

29 Jun 2022 19:02:08
Rice has the good old English tax on him that instantly doubles his valuation. Clearly West Ham have no interest in selling but it's inevitable that he'll go sooner or later unless WH win something big.
Going to be a great season seeing where the new Utd / Arsenal and Spurs fit in too. I think Spurs will be the side to challenge the top two, not Chelsea.
