Interesting to see the posts re Phil Jones.
Does anyone know how many PL games last season he was available for selection but not picked, how many he was injured and how many he played.
Imo whilst not great he is better than HM and at least puts in a shift.

Yeah he's better than Maguire.
I think he was on the bench for majority of season end.
Wasn't picked much though.

Only reason he was on the bench a lot is because he wasn't picked to start. If he started 2 games he would have been injured and not seen on the bench for months.

Yes he is better than Maguire. proved it in one game. Been a better player full stop, injures have killed a decent player. But Maguire is just plain crap.

We should get Timber and Torres but i think it will be one or the other.
If we get one this year and one next year and sell of Maguire we will be in a very good state going forward.

The Jones story is something of a roller-coaster. When he made his long-awaited 'comeback' last season (which seemed to last one game), it dominated the headlines, traffic stopped to tune in and men, women and children were crying in the street at how the mighty Jones had overcome his injury woes to reclaim his place in the heart of the team. He was actually pretty good that day, one of the better players. And a few months later he's being slated again.
I don't doubt he's had injury woes and that he can't be blamed for taking the money. There's an argument that all players should leave to find first-team football if it's not working out and it looks like he spurned several offers recently, and I doubt he'll want to drop down to the championship.
A fully fit Jones would do a great job for someone but I suspect he needs to find a club insisting on a pay as you play basis. He might get a few in each season.
