Adding to the above it just confirms my feeling that England will not win any trophy with this squad and especially this manager.

Aye, and according to Danny Murphy United should have gone for Southgate instead of ten hag ??? the guy relegated Middlesbrough he's absolutely awful. Has players some cracking attacking talent yet chooses palace and leeds cloggers who are championship level. England will do well to get out of the group with Southgate in charge.

Southgate hasn't done any favors to people who defend his record the last few games .
The whole try to make four right backs happy by constantly rotating them or playing them at left back looks a little weak .
Not easy to see grealish, foden, mount, rice and Stirling on the bench rested before their holidays while we will be relegated because we have scored once in 4 games.

Pointless marches and pointless tournament. It’s clear the players don’t care and are knackered. Has no bearing on how we will go in the World Cup. Which we won’t win regardless.

The are friendlies really, no one cares one jot.
After two hard seasons condensed cause of Vid and the next season starting early because of WC the best thing Southgate could have done is rest everyone up and sent in the kids team.

Southgate and England remind me a lot of Ole and us. The football is poor but excuses are made because standards have slipped over the years and reaching a semi final after beating Tunisia on penalties and Sweden is supposedly an achievement.
The stars aligned and United stumbled to 2nd place. This was enough for some supporters to say "everything is pointing in the right direction, we've just finished 2nd, what more do you want? Very much like England.
Similar to England. Football served up is woeful and like with United, any one with a brain could see it wasn't really working despite the so called "achievements". The wheels will come off eventually because like Ole, Southgate isn't a particularly good manager.

Several years ago I said Ole and Southgate played the same football, recycling the ball inside to retain possession. Inherently negative in outlook and approach. Many times I said if Southgate became United manager that would be the moment I tried to retire my football passion. Southgate safety first approach meant we didn’t win the Euro final, his subs very similar to the Ole approach. I never want to see Southgate at United and if England want to win something he needs replacing.
