Haaland - already at City (always nailed on given family connection and current team to beat) .
Nunez - move to Liverpool looks done and dusted.
Kane - surely to stay at Spurs given genuine chance of silverware with Spurs now under Conte and UCL.
Greenwood - unlikely to kick a ball again for United surely?

Looks like we are offering Ronaldo a bumper 5 year contract then!

Haaland was never coming to United if Ole his former manager couldn't get him, no chance he comes to us.
Wasn't he a City fan too?

Nunez, I'm happy we didn't go for him. Unlike the Luis diaz, Salah or Mane signings he is not cheap. A lot of these Benfica one season wonder guys turn out to be bad eggs. Remember Lazar markovic? I'd be wary of singing a striker on the back of 1 season. Supposedly he has a bad first touch. But 100m is still quite high.

And yes Rashford could be played as a CF if he wants to play there. If over the top balls is what you reply on as a striker then rashford is a good striker (assuming last season was a blip) . You also have martial, who I feel we will struggle to move.

If we can get the support from midfield and out wide that supply balls to the forwards suddenly the Ronaldo, Martial or Rashford would become 1.5x-2x of what they were last season.

I hope we sign a RB, 2 midfielders, a right sided wide player and a centre back this season.
I don't want us to sign another striker at all.

For once I agree with Gary Neville, we definitely and desperately need a centre forward. If we rely on Martial and Rashford we will not score enough goals. Ronaldo is late 30’s and whilst the greatest goal scorer of all time cannot do it every game. Centre forward is a must.

We only have 38 games to play. Ronaldo can do it in the PL.
The other leagues rashford or martial can play.
If we spend upwards of 80m on a striker then we will not fix other positions.
What's the point of getting a striker when he won't get enough chances to score?
If you're really out for a striker maybe look at cheaper alternatives but if we get a 80m striker I'm sure we will end up with Max 3 players in.
Strikers are the most expensive players to replace.

More convinced than ever that Martial is coming back to play for us.

Rohan, are you serious? You really want us to go into the new season with a 38 year old as our only out and out central striker? Please do not even mention Martial and Rashford, both have lost the plot and I don't think they scored 10 goals between them in the past two seasons. We desperately need a new striker, but let's wait another 2 months and see who is left, now that City and Liverpool have bought the best two young strikers around.
Ps. I live in portugal and watch Benfica a lot, and let me tell you, Nunez does not have a bad first touch and he will not fail at Liverpool. I'll remind you of this in 12 months time.

12 Jun 2022 16:07:36
He might not fail at Liverpool because that team is one of the best in past 5 years.
Can you say the same for us?
Yes he might be a good and upcoming striker no doubt but it's not like we lost out on a certain amazing striker like a Lewandowski or anything.
He is expensive, PL unproved and on the back of 1 good season ar Benfica.
This is not some random 38 year, this is Ronaldo we are talking about. Probably the fittest guy in our squad. Elanga, Bruno can also CF for a couple of games over the course of the season.
I am not against a cheap signing like Andrea Belotti, this is the same guy we got constantly Linked with 3-4 seasons back. He's on a free. Didn't have the best of season last year by the look at his stats but as a free agent, understudy to Ronaldo doesn't look like the worst signing in the world.
There are not many strikers available this season. Lewy is one but can he and Ronaldo play together i really don't know. I'm not against the idea of a low fee and 1 year loan for Mauro Icardi.
But to think that we go and spend huge amounts on a striker who sits on the bench for 80% of the games is money poorly spent.

Problem with Icardi, is you get his wife too and we are hopefully getting rid of troublemakers we certainly don’t want another one….

To be fair EtH could do a lot with Martial looking at how Haller plays. He does a lot of link up play and drops deep, AM has some commonality.

I’d love to see Antony come in tbh. RW is an issue and Antony knows the role and system.

Greenwood will all depend on legal outcomes.

12 Jun 2022 18:32:29
Moussa Dembele would be a great back up to Ronaldo.

12 Jun 2022 20:18:15
People laughed when I said keeping ronaldo is a mistake.

Problem is not that he can't still play to a very high level and get goals. Problem is the risk with being all in on a player his age.

Everyone keeps ignoring the obvious, Ronaldo simply will not sit on the bench happily, either at the beginning of games, or the end of games.

Even if you convinced him to skip lesser games, you are now trying to bring in a great striker to play in the dead rubbers. They know they will miss all the critical games.

If we can get a versatile forward to play in the first team at right wing we could possibly get the quality of player we crave, and actually influence our first team.

It is reasonable to question whether Rash or Martial could rediscover their best form under EtH. Is anthony really much better than Rash at his best?
