Letting Trippier go to Newcastle for a pretty small reported fee make little sense to me.

Hes a clear upgrade on Dalot and AWB and knows the league well so could in theory hit the ground running.

Technique is good, crossing in much better than the aforementioned two and can cover the ground needed from a modern full back.

He’s 32 this year, we aren’t going to build anything signing players that are going into the twilight of their careers.

07 Jan 2022 10:49:52
should have kept Williams instead of sending him on loan.

07 Jan 2022 10:59:08
Yet we are building things with a 35 year old Cavani and 37 year old Ronaldo up top?

On williams, he's not very good.

Trippier is on a downward slope and turning 32, doesn't make sense. Instead prefer to coach and develop Dalot.

07 Jan 2022 11:29:06
We also need to sell before we buy.

07 Jan 2022 11:36:31
He is maybe an upgrade on what we have but every time i see Trippier play something i don't like about him. At 32 with big salary its a no for me. Ralf wouldn't sign a 32 year old right back.

I wouldn't say we're building things with Cavani or Ron. Cavani will be gone in months and I wouldn't be surprised if CR7 doesn't stick around for his two seasons either.
I think parting with Williams was the right move, hopefully it stays permanent.

I'd have signed him in the summer but not now only 18 months left in him at the top I feel.

07 Jan 2022 17:40:00
His coordination's gone, that's for sure.

07 Jan 2022 18:40:29
Laird is going to be coming through. We have enough there atm with other more pressing issues.

07 Jan 2022 20:03:18
I really think full back area is a huge problem, arguably now one of the most important position in most top teams and we’re really poor in that area! Especially in how rr wants to play!

07 Jan 2022 20:21:50
I agree Chris. On both sides of the pitch.

07 Jan 2022 20:22:45
Among the quagmire of players we're being linked with a fair bit in the past few days is a young LB/ CB Zagadou. Lots of potential but a lot of injury problems so far too.

07 Jan 2022 20:39:11
Trippier defensively is as good as AWB.
Trippier offensively is comfortably better than Dalot.

Not signing him in the summer was a huge mistake.

07 Jan 2022 23:25:52
With few words world class Downsie ? Really I don't think he is that good.

08 Jan 2022 13:53:51
newcastle could well replicate the keegan/ john hall era when they tried to buy but didn't win a single pot, notoriously 96 season -luv it if we beat them " . They have always found it hard to attract top players, coaches and keep anything decent with the exception of shearer, for a decent length of time.

09 Jan 2022 11:53:26
City don’t have a left back and seem to be doing ok.

10 Jan 2022 11:08:49
Eric, they do he's just been left back in a prison cell ?.
