If ralf wants to show our squad the standard of pressing expected, he should just show the whole team this liverpool Chelsea match.

The pressing is unbelievable, the energy from both teams just off the charts.

We are so far off this standard of football, and these guys are being blown away by City!

3 years of lethargy and no standards has left us well behind. But all we can do is look forward. The standards are there as you say DB. But all you need to do is look at what they do with the ball too. They look after it can all control and pass the ball at pace 1 and 2 touch.
That said I think now for the first time in 3 years we will have proper coaches. It's up to them now to improve and sort out the players.
It will take time and a lot of ins and outs. 4th and a couple of good cup runs would be a huge success in the circumstances this season. Arsenal spurs and less likely west ham will not make it easy but we have a deeper and better squad than either if them imo.
Matic mata Jesse pogba cavani pereira axel martial vdb will all be off in the summer or before imo and could well be joined by 1 or 2 of rash? Ronaldo? Fred? Lindelof maguire? bailly? Awb? Henderson?
So quite a bit to be sorted out any of those from the 2nd list or even a couple from the 1st list could well be transformed by our new permanent manager.

Only really Matic and Ppgba would be missed from that first list Ken. The others have barely played, and how long since Pogbas last game?

DvdB has just been a huge clash of styles. Best for him to go to a possession based club and league and bring in someone who can bring both passing and physicality to the midfield. Could Donny have coped in midfield today in that Liverpool Chelsea game? Not for me, I think he would have got run over. How good did Kante look, he plays like 2 players.

3 years Ken? Whether you like to admit it or not ole did a very good job of starting to shift all the rubbish Jose and lvg had brought in! Although it turned sour towards end we have a lot to thank ole for, still a long way to go but he started putting a half decent group together.

To hear the past utd greats talk about training, they used to say that every day in training was incredibly tough and hard. Everyone was at it and snapping at each other, full contact and going at it.

Then come game day the matches seemed more normal, even easier than training.

I watch that match today and just think those teams must be playing like that everyday in training. The skill involved to think that fast, to play one touch through or around that intensity of pressing can only come from being at that level every day and training your mind to think that fast.

Ralf has a lot of work to get our team up to that level. We have spent years sitting in a shape and breaking quickly, not just Ole's time, but going well back into Fergy's time (ignoring the time with LVG) .

Good game to watch wasn't it, shows how far away we really are. Makes a mockery of the foundations claim.

Chris the only thing we have to thank that idiot for is taking us back 5 years.
Is maguire vdb awb part of the great group? 34 year old cavani and 36 year old ronaldo? Starting he would build around pogba although pogna has told him he wants to leave fir 2 and half years?
No youth blooded in his tenure.
Worst performing manager for 50 years that's not disputed. Its just a simple fact.
What do you thank him for Chris?

I really can’t see the club moving on anything like 10 players by summer. It would be hugely disruptive. Not saying it shouldn’t be done, just that 4/ 5 would still be considered a lot going on the norm.

Ole put us back 5 years imo. Signing Maguire and making him captain was laughable.
He blocked the youth for his favorites.
Bruno was the only good signing.

The club and the team have regressed over the last three years under a manager whose knowledge encompassed Cardiff and in Norway. The player purchases were haphazard, AWB was bought at £50m yet didn’t fit how the manager wanted to play, or did that change, there are plenty of examples of poor decisions. The standards of the club were lowered to fit the nonsense about cultural rebuild, by someone who didn’t know what they were doing. Thankfully we have moved on, but there is nothing to thank the last incumbent for, only his playing career. The club took themselves back 25 years to try to desperately recreate SAF. However, it was never ever going to work, especially under such an inexperienced manager.

Now we move on, look forward and as long as the club do that we have a chance of competing with the top three in a year or two. Our youth will hopefully get chances, something not done in the last three years, but most important, our football must move into the modern era.

Spenno pereira mata pogba Jesse Jones martial cavani henderson vdb all look gone for sure I'll be surprised if 1 from matic dalot awb bailly ronaldo rashford axel Fred lindelof don't joint them.
I agree it's some churn.
But most of those guys play no role in the team some don't even make the bench.
We have youth to take up those 5 or 6 squad spots. Mengi laird garner hannibal elanga shortire along with 3 or 4 1st team signings.
