Some of you will know that some year and a half ago I largely quit watching united in favour of amateur teams at the local park.

I have watched a few United games recently (or at least as much as I could stomach) and it causes me pain having supported for over 50 years. On deep reflection after the Norwich and Newcastle games I have concluded that it is time to stop this self abuse.

I have realised that this team have not only succeeded in killing all joy in watching them but also all professional soccer.

Enough is enough and I have tolerated absolute garbage for too long.
Respects to those who manage to still see light at the end of the tunnel but it is a final, never to return farewell from me.

At the age of 76 I intend to enjoy the rest of life.

DW20, a lot of us share the same views. Like you, I have seen Best, Charlton, Law play unbelievable football, I've seen the rubbish that followed (Tommy Docherty apart), and then the fergie era.

I saw United get relegated and I was there when Denis Law backheeled to put the nail in our coffin. That season, despite United struggling and getting relegated, the team still tried its hardest.

What annoys me about this lot of overpaid, overhyped, arrogant and ungrateful idiots, is how little they care for the club and the fans. They are already moaning about training methods as the new manager us rightly demanding more effort from them. They are putting listless performances that defies their not inconsiderable talent.

We have Ronaldo and Bruno throwing their arms up in the air, Greenwood making noises about not being picked every game, Rashford doing more work off the pitch than on it. Then we have the three idiots, lingard, Pogba and Martial, all very talented individuals, but non of them want to be at the club or put the effort to force their way into the team.

Football has changed, but clubs like Liverpool, City, Chelsea have moved with the times and installed systems and management to ensure the players remain focused and connected. United have ignored this for years and now we're seeing the fallout from it.

Hope things change, I have faith in Rangnick and the choice of the next manager (Ten Haag hopefully) to galvanise this club, put some pride back into the shirt.

Don't turn your back on United, football goes in cycles, and our club and team will overcome this and make us proud again.

I know what you mean, after 53 years of supporting I felt like that under Ole because it felt like they didn’t have a clue what they were doing and it was just sentimental.

Right now I want to see what Ralf does with the team and with the structure in the background before hanging up my supporting boots.

At 76 mind you you are a few years older than me but I understand where you are coming from. All the best and enjoy your time filling it with what makes you happy.

Im also from the Best, Law Charlton era. Bringing in RR seemed a good move, he certainly talks the talk, so let's see where we are in 6 months.

We will always be linked in the press with the 100 mil players -Haaland, Rice etc etc - is it time to back RR if there is truth he likes players like Kessie, Kamara, Hadrida, Tyler Adams and Neves ( at 40 mill )? All are hard working and know importance of keeping the ball

I saw Jared Bowen of WHU get MOM again yesterday and Klopp is supposedly a huge admirer - the lad is Tevez like in his chasing and closing down with an eye for goal-came from Hull for 20 mill and he said he can't do half of what he does without the hard work of his team mates and that they buy into Moyes vision of hard work first and simply doing your job. The lad is living the dream PL football in an attacking team.
Our lads even the young ones may have the skills but not the work rate just a sense of having made it already.

Maybe a sprinkling of lesser known grafters who can do the basics and are willing to learn is the way forward.

Life’s too short to do stuff that makes you miserable. This team is miserable right now. Well done on supporting local amateur/ lower league clubs that frankly need the cash to survive!

I enjoyed watching amateur/ semi pro football and the quality is very high. If you add in that you can usually get a beer and a burger/ pie at a decent price too I can see the appeal. My 2nd team was always ipswich wanderers when I lived down south, great friendly club albeit not overly successful. I know what people mean and watching players have tantrums on the pitch when not even getting the basics right is pretty soul destroying to watch.

Will people STOP saying Denis got us relegated? Put the last nail in the coffin or whatever. We were going down regardless! !

I was at OT in 74 against City and Denis backheeled it in. Where in the ground were you? I was in K stand

Technically we were not relegated until the next game I recall.

I posted on another thread I've pretty much had nough with top level football period.

Its tough to let ot go but I haven't really enjoyed it for a long time, and I've been following United for almost 50 years.

The soul has gone, it's just about money, too much cheating, play acting and time wasting.

So Denis didn’t get us relegated Red Man. Not difficult is it?
If you need to know (can’t think why) I was in Nottingham.

Thank you all for understanding even if you cannot endorse my conclusions and action.
I will miss you all, but not the current state of the club and its football.
Cheers guys.

Red Man, I was in Stretford end that year but moved to G stand after as I wanted to see the game easier! But I missed the noise from SE so I moved back. My son has the tickets as I live abroad now.

Patrik I wasn't having a go at Denis Law, he was and will always be a United legend. But, the goal Denis scored didn't matter as Birmingham beat Norwich (I think) and that ensured their survival, so even if United had not lost against City, we would still have got relegated.

Correct AAA. It’s just that given Denis’s present circumstances I feel that the actuality of what his goal did needs to be put to bed. Much appreciate your reply.

My Dad took me to Utd and started me out in K Stand until I got big enough and old enough to handle the Stretford End. Good times.
