Can someone please explain what's the story with Jones? Has he dirt on someone to be still at the club? He seems to have no intention of leaving and is robbing a living or has he had a mental issues and the club have stood by him and kept it quite?

Agree0 Disagree0

Phil Jones is a throughly nice guy by all accounts and was a decent player that never fulfilled his potential.
Lots of injuries hampered him from early on. His record when he played was better than some.
I was amazed he got this contract as he had done little to warrant it.
I don't blame him for not walking out on it. If he thought he could play every week elsewhere then he might consider say a drop of 40k a week. But why would he risk it knowing he can sit in our gym on 100k a week instead of their gym on 60k a week.
Maybe Newcastle will take a punt no fee and match his wage then he might risk it in the hope he can stay fit. Apparently he has been available all season so maybe if they come in with a tempter he might go.
I think if a player particularly at his age is fit and wants to play every week then many will take a cut in wages but if your on a fat contract and have no hope of playing elsewhere why would you move.
It was a daft contract to give out rojo was the same mata bailly inhale martial the list goes on and on and on.

He is 29 and he is on £75k a week.

To be fair, he has been on the bench for the last couple of games. It's a shame for him that C.V. has disrupted football at this time because it seems like he is fit and in the manager's thoughts.

He obviously thinks he still has a future at Utd and I think it would be great if he can resurrect his career.

That has to be one of the worst OPs I have ever seen. You should be ashamed mate. You may have been trying to be funny, but you failed.

I always thought that Phil would make an excellent DM, kind of a super version of McFred
You never know, he could be the midfield answer we have all been craving.

Maybe that's what Ralf has in mind Grim? To name him as a sub suggests that he wants to have a look at him.

Well he began as a DCM for Blackburn. Fergie saw him as not only a Utd captain but a future England captain.
Somewhere along the line things have gone very wrong. He hasn’t evolved or improved as far as I can see in all that time and is injured when the wind changes. A few decent clubs are crying out for a CB, I’m sure he could do a job for Newcastle who frankly need a stack of better players.

He's been injured for the last 2-3 seasons now.
Last game he played I remembered was when solskjaer played his as a left sided CB out of the blue and he looked off pace and we subbed him at half time.
If he is showing in training that he is still good enough to be 4th or 5th choice and there is not a huge line of clubs lining up to take him they keeping as a backup isn't the worst idea.
I'm more interested to see what happens with tuanzebe as he too either remains injured or hasn't had any decent crack at our first team and is getting older.
Do we sell tuanzebe?
