Mctominay out for a while. Surely we must buy in January now? Our midfield is now completely threadbare, it was already awful.

Sell matic bring in longstaff and bruno/ eriksen.

27 Dec 2019 15:18:18
Has anyone actually seen something in Longstaff to suggest he is worth spending more than 10 million quid on as a kid with some potential? I know I haven't.

27 Dec 2019 17:29:54
Depends if you are on about Sean or Matty? We were looking at Sean who has not played much this season, you seem to be on about Matty?

27 Dec 2019 18:51:55
Not been imoressed with either of them, not a goodd move if we do it. don't get the Eriksen love either,
or the same player he was for me.

Ajh
Eriksen is an interesting one, I thought we would of made a move for him in the summer, a few didn't want him but seem to be coming round to it now .
Strange thing is he has been woeful this season i really don't think his heart is in it and I'm far from convinced he fancies a move to united .
He is a player I like but I'm not sure he would be a good signing.

Anyone saw the Jack Grealish interview where he said Old Trafford is his favourite ground? :)

27 Dec 2019 22:12:46
Quite often Newcastles midfield pairing is Hayden and shelvey if I didn't want their first choice pairing I wouldn't break the bank for their back up . Erikson may make financial sense but on form this season no sense, many players in that role have performed much better.

27 Dec 2019 22:40:04
Grealish is another player who plays his best football starting wide left and drifting in. Although he does play the support role well in a 4411 - mainly because he runs in to out and stretches team defenses.

We want a locksmith who can unpick tight defenses. Maybe Grealsih could be that player? Not sure.

27 Dec 2019 22:54:49
I love Grealsih, I’d take him in a heartbeat, a player who would blossom on a bigger stage.

27 Dec 2019 23:59:08
Yeah, he's very good AJH. He's a bit big for his boots, but sometimes that arrogance is good in a flare player. He certainly works hard without the ball, makes unselfish runs and has a nack of making things happen. He could be a good 10 in our formation possibly, and he wouldn't stop our counter attacking style.

My first choice for no 10 role will be Maddison, although it would be extremely difficult to prize him away from Leicester.

Other good option will be Bruno Fernandes, Eriksen or Kai Havertz. Any of the above are miles better than Lingard or Andreas.

{Ed0666's Note - you think 200k a week and a 5 year contract wouldnt tempt Maddison? Leicester will be asset stripped in the summer. You think the likes of N’Didi and Soyoncu will stay when the big boys come calling? Leicester are having a purple patch at the moment and don’t invest in the hype that they will become some footballing force. They deservedly won the title but that will be the sum of their achievements especially while Rogers is in charge. He has no plan B or isn’t especially tactically savvy. He inherits teams he doesn’t build them. I’m reading back my answer and it’s sounds like a proper diatribe I swear that’s not how it was meant.

I'd much rather see us go for Grealish than Maddison. While Maddison has done very well, he has done it in a good side with Vardy's brilliant movement ahead of him and the shield of Ndidi behind him. Not denying he's a good player though and it's not solely playing with the other two that makes him stand out but definitely helps.

Grealish has been outstanding for Villa, he can create and score the odd goal but the most important thing I think he does is take the ball all the time. We don't have a midfielder aside from Pogba who is actually comfortable in possession. Grealish drops deep, drifts wide, works extremely hard and rarely loses possession, when he does he's invariably fouled. He seems to be more of a central midfielder who can play as a 10 or wide nowadays than Maddison who for me is solely a number 10.

Thanks for giving the hope Ed 666 :)
I'm a fan of Maddison and think he will solve the no 10 issues at the club for the next decade should we sign him.

{Ed0666's Note - I really don’t understand when people say that a player will solve a certain position for a decade I mean 10 years in the modern age to stay at a football club is nigh on impossible. I agree with you’re opinion tho he would certainly help you guys and would be a great foil for Rashford.
