The last 2 games we have been great and the talent we possess in these young players is there for all to see.
Every great premier league team have had a strong spine to their team. Look at us the likes of van der Sar, Ferdinand, Keane, Rooney etc and a variety of other through the years. I believe few smart swaps for pogba and we can strengthen our spine to add the improvement needed.
With the flair on the wings and the likes of AWB in full back we are not far off!
We have beaten city and spurs and should have beaten Liverpool so we are heading in right direction!

I think it highlights how good this team can be. However, many are young and with that comes inconsistent performances. Also consider Tuanzebe, Williams, Garner and Greenwood didn't start or play a significant role yesterday. Four lads who look to have huge futures at the club in the long run.

I think with four key signings we could have a very good team in a couple of years time. DM, AM, RW and ST.

Shappy, if we get a RW, what happens to James?

08 Dec 2019 12:55:58
Striker, CM/ AM and another centre half as a priority. James is doing brilliantly for first season and rashford has developed to a new level this season. Mc T and Fred playing well too but another experienced introduction in there will bring them on even more!
Just need Leicester to out point the scouse now!

James will have to improve to play. Competition is incredibly healthy. Players need to know that if their form drops then there's someone chomping at the bit to take their spot.

Shappy is spot on with those positions. I'd probably add another CM in there as long as a DM but it would be me being greedy.

The pathway to the United first team should be difficult.

CSF, James will continue to get many minutes. The question should be what do we do when James isn't fit or suspended? Who do we play there then?

I think we need a clever creative RW. We have James for pace and for when there is space in behind. But we struggle to create when teams sit deep and perform a low block. What we need is a player who can play from the right hand side, but who has the vision to open teams up with his passing to offer us a different type of player to James who opens teams up with his running.

We also need a similar clever player who can play in the No.10 role who can similarly create when teams sit deep.

While a striker who can play with his back to goal would also give us a huge edge when teams sit deep.

In Rashford, Martial, James and Lingard we have a front four who all play their best when there is space in behind a defence. As seen by our generally good results against top sides who don't park the bus.

However, when that space in behind is denied they struggle to move the ball around quickly enough and cleverly enough to open teams up.

That's why is we can add two players who can use passing and movement to open up deep sitting teams, and a striker who can play with his back to goal and create space behind him for a No.10 then we would have a squad capable of getting results against the smaller teams as well as the top sides.

Add a true defensive midfielder who can shield the defence and allow our full backs to push forward more in certain games. Then we would have a much more balanced squad that will allow tactical changes to suit certain games and certain situations.

The fact we can go from exceptional against teams like City, to shocking against teams like Villa is what is holding us back. If we can bring in the right sort of players that will allow us to put low blocking teams to the sword then we would probably have an extra 8-10 points this season and be comfortably in the top four.

A striker like Cavani or Mandzukic in January and a RW like David Neres or Steven Bergwijn would give us the ability to get those results against the lesser teams for the second half of the season.

Then add someone like Maddison/ Bruno Fernandes and Zakaria/ Kalvin Phillips in the summer and we will in a very good place next season.

Yesterday was probably out strongest first 11. When you look to the bench, you realise ho weak we are when compared to other teams.
On the plus side we have a lot of young players with potential.

I think Everton will be tough to play against Sunday.

Shappy, I think we will continue how we are this season with James and maybe Dalot as cover. The number 10 slot can be taken by Pogba, with Lingard and Mata as cover. I would personally like another DCM and let Matic go in January. The defence has enough cover on the left and right. If we go for a first team CB then I can see Lindelof leaving and we will be in the same place. Sell Matic and Jones/ Rojo and spend on that CDM and if and when Pogba leaves, get the AM and RW.

08 Dec 2019 14:06:16
CSF, who we can get in January will be limited. The players I mentioned as possible targets for January are ones I feel are more likely to be available while also having the quality and skills we need.

But you were calling for rice all summer and up to a few weeks ago and you've gone off him now shappy.
3 or 4 good experienced players need to come in to get the best iut of these young players.

08 Dec 2019 16:31:06
Ken, Rice would be another decent option. I still really rate him. However, Personally I don't think his passing is creative enough to play in a two man midfield for a top side that will have more possession of the ball. That in itself isn't a huge problem, but spending 80m+ on a player who we won't necessarily make a huge impact most weeks doesn't sound like a great idea.

I agree shaps he is a cb anyway.
In reality if we keep everyone we have a rw cm am (10) st.
An experienced striker to take pressure off martial and allow greenwood a bit of time to develop.
A rw to challenge james and rash for the wide spots
A 10 to challenge jessie
A cm to compliment and challenge fred and mctom. Again experienced would be great to allow garner and levitt another couple of seasons to develop.

08 Dec 2019 19:03:17
Hate to admit it but Kalvin would be a great signing for you, closest player to Carrick out there.
With a bit of luck we'll be promoted this year otherwise I can't see us holding onto him.

08 Dec 2019 19:37:54
Cheers 70. Lots of good things being said about him. I've watched him on tv and he looks very composed but with a bit of steel in there.
Best of luck with that promotion push.
