The Xhaka situation is pretty dreadful. Put to one side for a minute what he did and reflect on what he has since said. People have said they will break his legs, kill his wife, and hope his daughter gets cancer. Remember this is all before his outburst and caused by what? A perceived lack of effort or ability?

The abuse players get nowadays is appalling, I know it’s a bigger society issue as we see anyone in the public eye suffering but I can understand how Xhaka reacted. He shouldn’t have done it, he’s going to pay for it but your own ‘fans’ threatening you and your family, and then booing you, I guess eventually everyone will snap.

The vast majority of abuse is racist but there is a wider picture of general threats and intimidation. They may just be keyboard warriors but there is a section of our society that is sick. It’s very very sad.

I think the issue is that the abuse has always been there, people ranting in the local pub and the like.
Now with social media you can vent your fury for all to see behind the anonymity of a keyboard. Would half these people say anything to Xhaka's face, of course not.

Whilst we are all entitled to our opinions and often disagreements, the abhorrent behaviour of those Arsenals is disgraceful.

Breaking his legs is fine, but bringing his wife and kids into it is out of order.
