Hope you're all well lads. One of my takeaways from Sunday's game is the body of work rashford has at his age. Only 21 and scored against all the top sides in the league, and shown he has a good temperament in a World Cup shootout and the pen v PSG. I myself have been very critical of rashford at time, there's times where I don't think he's good enough through the middle. What Sunday showed is I'm wrong, he was a handful all game, his movement for the goal was top drawer. He sent Matip to the shops.

Yes it's one game, but when we watch on tv it's hard to see the full picture. Lee Dixon (too poor for sky) was calling him the best off the shoulder runner in Europe. It also does make me think, if he played in the Ferguson era how many goals would he be getting for us?

He's not the finished article, a hell of a long way to go. When he's up too I still think he needs a partner, and against side in a low block he's is probably better playing an inside left role. But I think we are all and I include myself very critical of him, but then if we take a look back, since the minute he came into this team we've been reliant on him. I just hope he takes a lot of confidence from Sunday, because you can see the player that's in him.

I'm on the fence with Rashford, he has all the skills to be a top player, quick, skillful, good reading of the game. Yet his decision making can let him down at times and he has a habit of rushing shots and snatching at them.

However, he is still only 21 and decision making will improve with age.

At the end of the day you don't get linked with Barcelona (the rumours may have some substance or not) without being a good player.

I'm not sure he is an out and out centre forward and feel he does his best work coming in from the inside channel. Either play him as one of a strike duo, maybe as a split duo as he was on Sunday or on the left of a front three as an inside forward.

Our reluctance over the past 4 years to not play martial and rashford as a pair baffles me. Its not like over the years we've had a lot of amazing centre mids to play 4-3-3 or number 10s to plays in a 4-2-3-1.

Why the reluctance to play 4-4-2, 4-4-2 diamond, 3-5-2 etc?

That's just it he isn't the finished article yet. But how many players are at the age.

At the heels of the hunt, neither Martial or Rashford are good enough I'm afraid. Overhyped.

Very few mort. He still has time on his side. He should start showing some real consistency over the next 18 months.

Dsg that is exactly my thoughts I can't believe they haven't been properly tested as a pair together. I think to get the best out of this current squad 3412 or 343 would be the best option going forward.

People tend to forget he's only 21.

And tbf to him he's not had the level of players to feed him and support him.

Put him in liverpool's or citys team and he would flourish.

Jodler, how can you make the statement that he’s overhyped? In what regard. He’s over relied on by us, but if you can’t see the talent then I’m not sure what you’re watching. He makes some great runs, imagine scholes picking him out. He’s not had the chance to play in a quality united side yet. Maybe not ready to be the main man and inconsistent form is down to the fact he has to be. Too say he’s overhyped without any reasoning is a bit far. I’ve been critical of him in the past, but look at what he’s done. He’s achieved more at his age than a lot of the greats, not suggesting he will reach that level but he will be a damn good player.

Rashford has immense talent. Very quick, skillful.
His upper body strength as improved quite a bit (the duel vs VVD) .
As many at his age, he is inconsistent.
However, he is yet to reach his peak.
His decision making will naturally improve with experience.

Moreover, we don't have quality midfielders who can pick passes and spot his runs.

He is often caught on his heels in the box, and doesn't make the runs that will put him in goal scoring position.

He needs to work on his reactions and runs in the box. But he has a chance to be a top player for many years to come.
