Matthias sammer would be my choice for our director of football,
He has experience at a very well run Bayern Munich and strikes me as a calm and sensible figure.
I think ole will end up reverting to a 442 eventually.
Hope you have all been well, I was in the uk for a week recently and I can honestly say I'm glad I moved, 2 cities I was in and both town centres full of homeless and drug addicts. you wonder what the government do.

442 is never going to work these days, especially against the top sides . We struggle in midfield as it is, even with three in there.

4 is higher but it usually means 2 central which leaves us overrun. Look at the quality of the 2 as well, we don’t have Keane and Scholes.

It isn't unknown though for managers to have some success with a narrow 4 in midfield. It can be boring as hell to watch but can also get some decent results.
You could also argue that Watford did it quite often last season with their 2 deep/ 2 attacking midfielders.

Yes the humour wasn’t lost on me.
It’s a results game ultimately but United were always vulnerable in Europe under SAF because we failed to control midfield too often. Control midfield and you generally control the game.
