So, just for kicks, anybody optimistic about us signing anyone today?

For me, one midfielder would be a great way to end the window, but my gut tells me it ain't happening. Anyone else feeling the same?

Whatever will be will be.
Im not sure how we can compete to win anything with the midfield options being what they are.
Pogba. Does not want to be at United.
Fred doesn't realise he is at United.
Periera. Lucky to be still at United.
Matic last season at United
Mctom. Needs to prove he can make it at United.

Ole thinks he has made the right choices i have to say i completely disagree with him. Only time will tell if those 5 in midfield can make us competitive.

My gut says no signings today, the fact we are linked with at least one new name every day suggests we aren't seriously in for anyone.

I too feel an extra body in midfield is needed. We are light on quality there.

If we don't sign anyone then we best hope the fax machine stays broken.

Ken how about we try Jones in midfield 😉.

Ken and Shappy, I agree with what both of you have said. I think the best thing is to just be kicked about the new season starting. Things will fall into place, whichever way they have to.

I don't see us signing anyone today. We've been messing around in the market for midfielders all window and its come back to bite us, when teams want players i.e arsenal they've been aggressive in their approach and have got their man. Something Woodward and the rest of the fools have lacked.

Longstaff would be nice then we are good to go. If we need more, there is cash in the bank for the Jan window.

I rated the window as OK the other day. But after seeing the moves that Tottenham and Arsenal have been making, I feel our own window is looking a lot weaker.

Today is D-Day and what will be, will be but Ed Woodward and his helpers have a big job on today. It will shape our season.

For a club of our size and the money that is available, I find it inexcusable the way the powers that be, have conducted transfer business this summer. It seems to repeat itself every year, only this time we are not in the champions league and should that be repeated, we will struggle even more to sign the correct player next year.

Harry,

Arsenal? Seriously? We we had their window?

GDS, i'm not talking in caliber of signings, i'm saying that they've seeked targets and got them. Pepe, despite setbacks they got Tierney and Ceballos, they went about business the right way and got the players they wanted. United find their targets and expect to muscle their way through deals because who we are, it doesn't work and its left us massively short in midfield. I hope I eat my words and we sign a good midfielder I really do, I just don't see it.

GDS, Arsenal have naff all money and they are doing what they can. I think that they've done okay too considering where they were last year.

We've missed an opportunity to really kick on i feel but time will tell.

I am being optimistic today and think we will get one in the door. The fact I can't say who probably says it all.
Regardless I am positive that we will hit the ground running and hVe a good season.
All your points are correct Ken about the midfield, I hope that we prioritise Mctominy over Matic as we look a much better team without Matic.
For me it would be Mctominy and either Pereira/ Fred as a base 2 with Pogba ahead causing havoc. If we get Fernandes it would be a Mctominy base with Pogba and Fernándes ahead
Just glad the window will be over soon.
