Hi all,
With 3 signings all but completed, and seemingly at least one more to get over the line before Thursday, I'm really interested to hear how optimistic you are for the season ahead.
My thoughts are:
1) Liverpool will go one better this season and win the league.
2) City's spine is now on the decline and the loss of Kompany both on and off the pitch is going to have some sort of negative impact. I still expect 2nd or 3rd from City but I'm not convinced by any of their CBs (except Laporte, but he was at his best next to Kompany) and so I think they will ship a lot more goals than last year.
3) We'll finish 3rd. I've been really impressed with Ole and the team during preseason. I like his approach, his love for the club and this is bound to be infectious for the majority of players who want to play for the club.
4) Spurs - several Spurs players were below par last season e. g. Deli A, and I think they'll be better this year. However, this could be another passive window for them.
5) Arsenal - if the front two stay fit they've got a chance. I like the manager and he'll improve Arsenal over the next couple of years.
6) Leicester - a great season for several youngsters last year and they'll kick on. Rodgers is a decent coach.

As a rival fan I think your squad should be good enough to fight for the title really. Difference though with Pool and City is that your squad may lack some familiarity, so title may be hard this season, but 3rd spot for sure for you guys.

You've got both star power and strength in depth.

I think City and Liverpool will still likely battle for top spot, with us and Spurs fighting for 3rd and 4th. Think Arsenal will be the biggest threat to us and Spurs. Can't see Chelsea doing too well without Hazard, they struggled a lot when he wasn't at his best last season, although Pulisic may be a revelation.

Leicester, Wolves and Everton will be tougher and I think West Ham will be improved too. Whether one of those will be able to break the top six will be interesting to see. If one those, I believe it will be Chelsea who do not make it.

I do a predictions thing with a few mates and I've gone Liverpool, City, United, Spurs if I had to choose 5th and 6th then I agree arsenal and Leicester look likely, could say wolves but with Europa and second season syndrome I'm not sure.

We are going to win the league. As simple as that.

I agree re City, think their defence might cause them some problems this season.

Love it, ken.

I wonder if City might struggle. Pep is so intense that the players may be exhausted by now. His standards are incredibly high and he drives everyone again and again and again but at some point it must all get too much. Possibly wishful thinking on my part. I fear this may be year the Scousers eventually win the league.

Transfer window not closed, but if we complete McGuire and buy Fernandes, then we should be fighting for 3rd or 4th place. I think City will win it. Liverpool to just edge it into 2nd place.
Spurs, United and arsenal fighting for 3rd/ 4th.
Leicester and West Ham will be close to the top 6 too.

City's defence will only cause them problems if other teams attempt to attack them. Also to do that they will need to win the ball back off them first.

Kompany has played on average 20-25 games a season over the last 2-3 years. While City have played 50-60 games a season. So at best he has only played 50% of the available games. His character will be a big miss, but his on field contributions have steadily declined.

Rodri will be a huge signing for them. City only ever look vulnerable when Fernandinho is out injured or suspended. Rodri will give them a top quality option to rotate and eventually replace Fernandinho.

City look just as strong this year, if not stronger.

Liverpool had a phenomenal season last year, but will they really be able to replicate that sort of form? They got lucky with injuries, they also got knocked out of both domestic cups early due to a lack of quality squad depth. They haven't added to their squad this year, so that is likely to effect them this season.

I still think City and Liverpool will be top two, with City winning by a bigger margin this season. Us and Spurs will fight it out for 3rd, possibly with Arsenal if they can sort their defence out over the next few days.
