Harry maguire, he is 50 mil. Player, a good player not an 80 million great player,
Now herrera left a box to box midfielder,
I hope we get fernandes but we also need a cdm, fellanni left as well, matic is too slow takes 5 or 6 slow touches,

If pogba goes there's another midfielder who needs replacing with a proper world class midfielder, our rw needs sorting,
Then lukkaku goes needs replacing, rashford will not score more than 15 goals in the league,

Now the way I see it, we have an europa league team on champion league wages,
How long can you pay them wages not winning anything,
I see the posts about how hard it is to get transfers through,
Now for me we should be up there challenging Madrid and Barcelona, they weren't happy with their season but the got their transfers done
Man united shouldn't be settling for second best, its not like we can't afford to compete with these teams,

Sanchez wages are a joke for what he brings
Now we need a dof fairly rapid.
There's a lot of waffle on here about players we have, we will win nothing with the most of them, give this, one a chance that one a chance, oh the top 4 is great, the way the squad is now will make no top 4.
Not good enough, we are man united not Stoke City, no disrespect to Stoke.
And to top it off we have a manager who should never have got the job.

Agree8 Disagree0

Maguire is good enough to play for our great club 50-80 mill is the going rate for a premier league centre back i'm afraid . We are desperate for a quality defender get the deal done . The money should bother us fans we all know we have "Loads a money"🤣🤣.

Madrid and Barcelona could still offer CL football, and a genuine crack at their league. Makes it a bit easier to get players in, Leahy. In our position, to get top players, we'll have to pay over the odds, and big wages. I don't think that's a situation any of us want, when our wage bill is already so high. I think we just have to suck it up for now.

19 Jul 2019 21:27:04
Your right nou, but that's why we need a dof, someone that can direct us in the right direction.

19 Jul 2019 21:34:24
Why will rashford not score more that 15 goals this season?

19 Jul 2019 21:43:10
Can't work out if you're fishing Leahy! 🤣.

The problem is that United have always been a hard sell to the best foreign players.

Manchester is not a city they want to live in. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour, and certainly not the climate of some of Europe's best cities. We have had three things going for us previously to tempt those players in.

1, a genuine chance of winning the major trophies.

2, a genuine world class manager who will go down in history as one of the greatest of all time in Sir Alex Ferguson.

3, the ability to pay more than most other team.

The issue is we definitely don't have the first two anymore, and even the third one isn't what it used to be. With so many other teams being able to pay huge wages, FFP limiting our ability to massively over pay on wages and even UK tax rules meaning that players keep less of their wages here compared to some other EU countries.

All we have left is history, and I don't think many players are that sentimental.

The problem though isn't overspending on players. It's fine to overspend on the RIGHT players. If your signing one of the very best players at the peak of their ability and you can be sure they will fit in and hit top form almost straight away then it doesn't matter as much if you pay 20m too much for them, or if the wages are on the high side.

However, we aren't in a position to be overspending on the very best players, we are doing it on the second or even third tier of player. Meaning we have blown our budget on decent but not outstanding players and then we get stuck with them on high wages that no one else will match so we struggle to off load them.

80m on a player of the quality of Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic is one thing. But do you pay a world record fee for a defender who it is questionable if they are even in the top 10 best central defenders in the world.

Do we spend Ronaldo money on a player like Harry Maguire? Is that sensible? Will that take us back to the big time?

I get the argument that it market forces and a player is worth what club's will pay for him. So name me another club that will pay 80m for Harry Maguire and I'll accept he is worth that much. But if no one but us will pay it then that isn't market forces that is us inflating the market and screwing ourselves into the bargain.

No fishing, shappy I agree with most of that, but look at city they have got players who are world class and I thought some of them would go after a year or 2 or 3 but they are staying.

19 Jul 2019 22:15:26
There wages got a decrease to go in line with the failures of last season.

19 Jul 2019 22:21:41
Shappy
Maybe the club rate him higher than you?

19 Jul 2019 22:24:03
Leahy
Good point that, city threw money at it.

19 Jul 2019 22:25:13
I said we had three things that attracted players to us, winning things, huge wages and a manager players want to play for.

City can match anything in wages that we could offer. They are highly likely to win major trophies over the next 5 years. And Pep is one of the few managers world wide who nearly any player would want to play for.

City currently have everything we used to have to be able to attract top players.

19 Jul 2019 22:33:16
Jred just my opinion, I could be wrong, don't see him as an out and out goalscorer. He has a good shot on him just sometimes he tries to burst the ball trying to put swerve on it, and the ball could end up anywhere, when he is 1 and 1 on the keeper he misses to much, like I remember ruud v n when he was 1 on 1 it was a goal,
Now if lukkaku goes he has to improve, prove himself this season.
Now I hope he does.

19 Jul 2019 22:44:36
Leahy
I don't see see why he can't score 5 more goals than he did last season .
Last season was a mess, jose had lost it, we played pretty average defensive footy and rash played left right and central.
I don't see why with another year under his belt, playing as the main striker in a more attacking team he can't score 5 more league goals than he did last season .

19 Jul 2019 22:45:50
Shappy city didn't have any of that when there current owners took over . They did have hard cash tho.

19 Jul 2019 23:01:23
Yawn. Same stuff different day.

19 Jul 2019 23:04:10
I abhor the Manchester bashing City seem to be able to retain their best players. Aguero, D. Silva, B. Silva, De Bruyne, Kompany. This is your opinion again mate not fact. Some players may prefer the sun on their back but not all of them are so shallow and it's a generalisation to suggest the best players don't want to live or play in Manchester it's simply not true.

Manchester - The worlds first industrial City, a place where the atom was first split, a place that offered the first free public libraries, the place where the first programmable computer was designed, the worlds first passenger railway station, Manchester is home to many of the Uk's best bands not forgetting the Halle orchestra, the Bridgewater canal was the first man made waterway in Britain, its home to the worlds longest running Soap and is the place where the first professional football league was set up, I could go on and on a its an amazing place.

Manchester is a vibrant, exciting, inclusive City rich in culture and heritage. Manchester is a City of first's and not a place to scorn or underestimate.

I'll climb off my soap box now sorry for the rant!

Mort go to bed if your tired and don't read,
There isn't much point to your post,
If I feel like you I read the posts but i just don't comment.

19 Jul 2019 23:19:46
Why is almost everyone obsessed with the money?

I just don't understand the fascination.

It's not as if the club are stealing your pocket money.

Most if not all, of us have no idea how the finances work so why all the worry.

If and when Ed woody comes knocking at my door asking me to lend him a tenner, then I shall worry. otherwise couldn't give a toss.

19 Jul 2019 23:38:15
Shappy, you forgot to mention that we have a nice kit.

20 Jul 2019 00:04:04
Dlib well said mate, it's great to see people backing their hometown.
Good post.

20 Jul 2019 00:29:19
Why can’t we just get behind the team and support them the way we used to?

Near enough all the Man Utd fans I speak to are acting like spoilt brats without realising we got to where we are with hard work and determination. We very rarely had a star studded team. We had 16 players turn up willing to die for the shirt.

I think ole coming back is good and mike phelan too. With a good preseason getting the players fit and introducing a new free flowing type of football we will start to see improvements.

I’m looking forward to watching us this season for the first time in about 4 years.

Let’s all just relax until the window shuts and see how we play when it matters 😊

P. s Daniel James looks exciting from what I’ve seen

P. p. s Rashford will score over 20 this year, heard it here first.

20 Jul 2019 06:16:59
Yes DLIB, I remember when Ronaldo came here, he couldn't wait to visit the free public libraries 😋

Nice post and good to see you backing your hometown just as I would but in all honesty, Manchester isn't as appealing as the money that can be offered by the 2 clubs there.

20 Jul 2019 07:57:26
Wasn't much point in yours either pal. Its been done to death.

20 Jul 2019 08:55:38
Mort
That's good advice from leahy.

20 Jul 2019 09:02:44
Shsppy there is a reason you don't have a job in football mate. You don't half shout spout some rubbish😁😁😁 just your opinion of course but you write it like fact.

20 Jul 2019 11:38:41
Well said DLIB.

Manchester has everything but a beach.
