Feeling quite positive about the new season.

Looks as though Ole will favour a 4-3-3 with pace in attack. Rashford will clearly be number 9, Dan James has looked impressive on both sides so far and then you've got Martial and Greenwood as other versatile forwards. I'd like to see another come in to replace Lukaku who does not fit this system at all.

Pogba and Mata/ Pereira ahead of McTominay/ Matic could be a well balanced midfield, although would prefer Bruno Fernandes to partner Pogba.

Having a natural right back makes a huge difference and AWB has looked good in the game and a half he's had so far. Reducing the reliance on the left hand side will make us a far more balanced attacking force.

Lastly I hope we get Lindelöf a partner and DDG signs a new deal and gets back to his best.

Onwards and upwards and enjoying the ride as always!

Based on 180 minutes of training sessions against non league teams, Fresh. Getting carried away are we?

I hbe seen 4-2-3-1 in each half. More in that Leeds managed to get in center attacking positions more which exploits our need of proper defensive midfielder cover. Any good team would have scored from there. So being optimistic is good but still squad need that last puzzel solved to cover Matic position, if a Kulibaly frame defender is not signed.

Massively UA, seen loads of memes of other fans taking the mickey for beating leeds reserves. It's getting embarrassing now.

UA, this place has less optimism than the WW2 trenches. Fresh injecting some positivity here is a welcomed change of policy. Ole may be out of his depth as a manager at the highest level, but the players at his disposal can turn it on when they want to. For the first time in years it looks like we will have a game plan and a style to our play.

Not allowed to be positive on here are we. Tbh I don't feel united have anything expected of them in the prem next season other than to obtain top 4, maybe we will see exciting counter attacks, youth in the team and see some of our problem areas addressed, all of which we was crying out for not so long ago, so let's have a bit of optimism on here.

The most frustrating thing to see 95% of fans all beg for players just for namesake. I believe James can be a top player, but unfortunately our fickle things won't believe so because he wasn't signed for 100 million and isn't demanding 500k a week. Get behind the players we have and have some optimism for once! A young core of James, Martial, Rashford and Greenwood could bring some fresh air to old trafford.

This thread sums the split on fans at the moment.

Fresh's perspective is bang on.
Who cares what other fans think. We are United.

Ole is top man and I trust him as our manager to act in the interest of the club.

We have a great crop of academy graduates and upcoming graduates: Henderson, Laird, Williams, Tuanzabe, McTomminay, Andreas, Rashford, Gomes, Pogba, Lingard, Greenwood, Garner and Levitt. Not to mention TFM. Some won't make it but there's always new names emerging.

Other teams would love have that many homegrown players.

We have the Europa League to blood the young lads this season and with investment in players who add something new like James, AwB is a huge upgrade, Maguire would be our best CB (and while that might indicate how far we have fallen, it is again a upgrade) .

We also seem to be getting Bruno Ferndandes who is goalscoring AM which is again upgrading on Mata/ Lingard.

People need to have some patience, if we can develop the talent we have and invest in elite players to supplement and improve on what we have we will be ok.

Good post red devil.
Manchester United are not to dogs on the pitch or off it any longer.
We need to embrace the challenge of returning to the top.
I like the look of the squad ole is building and over the next 3 or 4 Windows if we follow the same path i think it will stand us in good stead.
I don't judge much in pre season games other than sharpness and body language.
Once the lukaku and maguire deals are done fernandes will follow and hopefully another midfielder.
Then any more activity will depend in outgoings.
Tfm rojo darmian could all go without replacing them
If pogba matic or sanchez leave we would need to replace them imo
For me that's a squad that can significantly close the gap on city.

We are ahead of where we were at this stage last season and our manager isn't acting like a spoilt brat and telling the whole world that our players aren't good enough. These are facts that you can get from the games so far.

We are also looking to play a pressing game, counter attacking and with a high tempo when we have possession, I think that is clear as well.

Best not to judge friendlies based on the opposition but you can watch a match and judge your own performance.

We have some good youngsters and whilst I think it is too soon for some of them I think we will see 1 or 2 break through this season and be like new signings and a breath of fresh air. Greenwood is almost ready imo and that is not based on the 2 friendlies, just my opinion on watching him A LOT last season.

We already know that we need a centre half and a centre mid in order to push for the top 3 this season, but if that is where we end up and Ole brings through some good youngsters that would be a successful season for me. I think we will be inconsistent as most youngsters usually are and that will be our downfall, fingers crossed the fans understand this and don't turn on the team after every defeat (won't count on it) .

As mentioned you can't judge on a couple of friendlies against poor opposition, but if we had lost both friendlies I can assure you the people being negative would be the ones saying how bad we were in the friendlies and the positive people would be saying 'stop judging on a friendly'. I am glad it is the first way, winning and scoring goals becomes a habit that I would like us to be in.
