We don't need someone nice to be captain, we need the opposite.

I think its time we had a club captain who plays professional football matches the majority of the time.

13/ 14 - giggs: basically a coach by then.
14/ 15 - 16/ 17: rooney, squad player at best by then.
17/ 18 - carrick: had a heart problem, also pretty much a coach by then.
18/ 19 - valencia, only had one good knee by this point and that was on the leg he never utilised anyway lol.

I take it you're backing Pogba then Leahy. After all he's the exact opposite of Mata.

No shappy, the worst part about it is we don't have a captain, herrera was the nearest thing we had to a captain, I look around now and I don't see one, now that's bad for a huge club.

Leahy, how many players in the EPL would you deem as being good enough to captain United?

I think modern footballers don't want or need a captain like we have known in the past.

People think Pogba would react differently if Keane was captaining the side. But would he? Or would he sue Keane for bullying? Modern footballers are a different breed and can't be handled the way players used to be.

To be fair I agree with you, there isn't many, last one around was John Terry,
For me a captain has to be like, a Keane, Robson, vidic, Tony Adams, Terry, Gerrard, lead by example,
They are too soft now, all those players cared about the club they played for, they lead by example, give 100% when your playing for this club or jog on.

Remember one of the United legends saying they used to sprint to try and keep a ball in even though they knew they would not get there. That was the culture and the effort expected and given willingly to the Old Trafford crowd time and time again.

Giggs, Becks Cole, York, didn't matter. They all carried that attitude over the white line everytime they played.

Don't see that today and the team is worse for it. That for me is why Pogba is not a good captain, he wouldn't do that when his chances of success are worse than 1%.

Captain doesn't have to scream and shout. But they do need to be excellent at their own role, and set the tone and standard for the team to follow.

So we need a captain who as a player gives 100% and cares for the club?

Well then its obvious isn't it. Captain Lingard.
