Is it true that Manchester United have not sold at a profit any player that we bought since summer 2009?
I read that earlier and we were the only club in the epl to have that record.
I find that quite amazing if its true.

I thought Blind was sold for a profit?

28 Jun 2019 18:08:19
That probably is true thinking of it. Only Ronaldo we have made a profit on I believe.

28 Jun 2019 18:29:37
Depay and schneiderlin possibly.

28 Jun 2019 18:54:45
Depay morgan blind all sold for less than we paid.

28 Jun 2019 18:54:49
Why does that matter?

There was a time when we sold players after they’d peaked.

We aren’t a club that builds up players only to sell them on. There’s only Ronaldo we’ve done that with and that’s because his dream was Madrid.

I just find it as amazing stat wazza. We are the only club that hadn't sold a player we bought at a petit for ten years.
Before that wazza we did it regularly we always have done it. so it not the united way. In fact its not any clubs way.
Its indicative of the recruitment policy and the contracts awarded. That side of the business has been poor for a long time.

The only time you sell at a profit is when you either bought a player very cheaply or you are selling a player you don't want to leave.

Neither happen very often with us. Often we pay well over the odds to sign players in the first place. Then barring Ronaldo can you name any player we sold that we didn't really want to sell?

However, I do believe there is a flaw in that stat. It only takes into consideration the players a club signs. Yet how many youth players do we produce then sell at a decent profit? Surely if selling for profit is the most important thing then you need to consider all sales not just the ones that hold up your point.

Shappy makes a good point, plus we are t rely a team that has struggled to hold on to our players.

28 Jun 2019 20:33:30
But its only a recent situation. Before 2009 we sold players at a profit during 70s 80s 90s 00s.

28 Jun 2019 21:07:16
We sold DiMaria because of Dimaria and i don't think th3 club wanted to sell him.

28 Jun 2019 21:17:00
If it makes you happy DDG and Pogba may be sold this window for a profit.

28 Jun 2019 21:17:37
Shappy that would be a different stat then wouldn't it.
Its not my point at all i read it and found it unusal which it is. Every other decade we sold players for a profit that we bought and so does every other club. Its not unusual its actually unique for us not to sell 1 player we bought for a profit in a full decade. Its never happened before.

28 Jun 2019 21:37:38
We have not bought a player since 2009 that has improved while being at the club so this statistic comes as little surprise.

28 Jun 2019 21:40:11
Who did we sell for a profit the 10 year before Ronaldo?

28 Jun 2019 21:57:14
Dud we sell hernandez at a profit in 2015.

28 Jun 2019 22:23:16
Last one before Ronaldo, off the top of my head we sold for a profit was stam. maybe lee Sharpe in the 90s? After that its a stretch. Weve never really been a great selling club, making profits off of selling players. We usually have our best players in their prime and those players tend to stay here until we want to move them on.

As Jred said, Hernandez was sold at a profit after Ronaldo, tosic too although he was a strange one.

28 Jun 2019 22:59:26
Did we sell RVN for a profit?

29 Jun 2019 01:07:25
Tevez was sold at a 27 million profit, before there are players like Kanchelskis, bought cheap, not sold for much but still at a profit.

29 Jun 2019 10:30:42
Tevez was on loan.

29 Jun 2019 12:09:25
Aye, my bad.
