Just nipped on to say hello. Not posted in god knows how long, do have a regular read though.

So just a quick post regarding our current first team and squad and the huge overhaul needed.

Firstly outs. If DeGea, Pogba, Lukaku, Rashford want out then go.

DeGea has carried us for years and deserves to choose what he does next, i wouldn't pay stupid money to keep him though. Romero will do fine for a season or two and we have a couple of excellent young keepers who may then take over if they kick on, if not buy later.

Pogba, i couldn't care less. If he wants to go then it is on our terms. If they aren't met he can sit on the bench, about time we grew some balls.

Lukaku, didn't want him at the club and still don't. Awful awful awful. I'd rather Rooney back, and the older posters will understand how I feel about Lukaku just from that.

Rashford. Home grown local lad born down the road from me, but if he wants stupid money then he is welcome to go and find it somewhere. Talented, with a chance to be a very good player but not a worldy and i wouldn't pay whatever it takes. It may be paper talk anyway, who knows.

I'd also get rid of Darmian, Jones, Young and Sanchez if there are any takers. Probably not.

At the very least we need a RB, one CB if Bailly stays, two if not, a RW and a quality CM who is an upgrade on Matic, and replacements for Pogba, Lukaku and Rashford if they leave.

A lot of business to be done but I'd do it in this window with the final touches in the coming windows. We aren't going to win the league next season and aren't in the CL so get it done and give the players a good season to settle and then have a go in the 20/ 21 season and beyond. Nothing to lose.

Anyway, i won't hold my breath but hope to be surprised. Stranger things and all that.

Good post Brendan.

Cant disagree with much of that Brendan. Just can't help but feel these are scary times at United. The scale of the rebuild required especially if the players mentioned actually leave is monumental. That's not what worries me. What worries me is the team of people entrusted in carrying out this rebuild. We really can't afford to get it wrong again. Really hope to be proved wrong.

Brendan another season or two out of the CL will significantly hurt Manchester United as a brand and the executive know this well. They will not rebuild in stages and will continue to thrown ridiculous sums at the Pogba’s, Di Maria’s and $anchez’s of this world.

To note for what is worth, the club has now been ‘rebuilding’ since Moyes. Several years and the longer it goes on the longer the club will slowly dissipate and history will no longer be enough to drive talent throw the door. The entire post Fergie plan has been horrendous.

Mistakes have not been realised, if Moyes was never going to stay then the next successor had to be one of longevity and experience - the club appointment LVG (subsequently now retired) looking to add a quick trophy or two in England to his cabinet and fully destabilise the ethos of the clubs identity. This followed by appointing a winner in Josè whose style was indifferent but again did not get the time nor backing to keep going.

We now have OGS who will not survive the axe in the first half of the season if things do not go to plan because he doesn’t have a CV to fall back on. It is troubling times indeed but the answers or lack of answers must lay at the feet of the executive group.

Good post Brendan but as the saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day and its just not feasible to buy I. One or two transfer windows almost a whole team and expect them to bed in o Sr just one season. We need patience and a clear direction which is doable and sustainable. In reality things were going downhill in Fergie last two years. RVPs arrival papered over the cracks which already existed. The very best run clubs will always buy new players to freshen up a squad even when they are winning titles and they biy quality. They are also ruthless about jettisoning non performing or slightly past it players. Our club has failed miserably these past seven years. We need leadership from the top which means we need a strong ruthless manager who will not kneel to the Board and owners of the club. Why we need is one who had the cojones to say "this is whaf I need. What you are going to do for me or I walk out"

Good post Brendan.
And agree with Maze, the planning and execution post SAF has been shambles.
