Interesting to see reports today about a potential 1 year loan for Gareth Bale. I'd take that personally.

If he fails no worries as we're not forced to keep him and also fills in our RW spot until Sancho is available next summer.

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement for Sancho to move to MU next summer.}

Agree3 Disagree2

I’m against signing Bale permanently but a 1 year loan deal wouldn’t be a bad short term solution.

As long as there’s no obligation to buy. He would help Daniel James settle and fill the RW position as you say.

I’d like to think we step up our pursuit of filling the much needed RW position but that seems too logical.

{Ed002's Note - An expensive short term solution at €30M loan fee and vast wages.}

09 Jun 2019 09:47:15
I think he means as we've got no chance of Sancho this summer because of his concerns we'll be back in for him next summer assuming this season allays those concerns. Not an actual agreement.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe the new coach will not want Sancho next year?}

09 Jun 2019 09:59:19
Are you teasing us again Ed? 😀.

09 Jun 2019 10:05:39
Signing Bale on loan would be just another signal of Woodward playing fantasy football. Bale had his chance a couple of years ago, didn’t take it, so leave the injury prone over paid player with Madrid. His wages are a millstone round Madrid’s neck, we already tried this with Sanchez and getting Bale in would show we hadn’t learned. There is also talk of us paying a loan fee, utter madness.

Interesting how Ed002 put that, “the new coach”.

{Ed002's Note - Woodward does not pick the transfers.}

09 Jun 2019 10:25:51
Why should we help Real Madrid with expensive players that they don’t want.

We have one of those ourselves that we are struggling to move on.

This would be a short term expensive fix, if he was to stay fit.

Younger players please! Who have ability, hunger and desire to make it.

09 Jun 2019 10:34:31
A simple no should suffice.

09 Jun 2019 10:53:10
Thanks 002, I had no idea the loan fee would be so high.

Does there ever come a point where it’s more economical to let a player leave for free?

For example Bale at Madrid, Sanchez at United. Both players are costing their respective clubs a fortune and neither can stay fit or seem fancied.

{Ed002's Note - Certainly not in Bale's case - they would have to pay off his contract.}

09 Jun 2019 12:21:30
Bale on loan would be a risk worth taking providing we had the option to terminate the deal.

09 Jun 2019 12:29:08
Bale to United? lol I wouldn't take him even for free, what's the point? he is past it already, spend more time injured than fit, what's the purpose of signing other clubs rejects at a very expensive price? now that the club has offered Mata a new contract we need younger players not players with their legs almost gone. Beside the next 2 announcements should be first a center back and then Wan Bissaka, let's sort the defense out before signing another left footed attacker lol. and after those 2 announcements we should go for a very speedy right winger and then some central midfielders, in other words we don't need BALE, let Madrid take another club as a fool.

{Ed004's Note - For the figures quoted so far it would be a definite no from myself but if the figure become reasonable I wouldnt be against this signing. You would have James and Bale on the right, Rashford and Martial on the left with Lukaku as the striker/his replacement. Would allow us to focus money on other areas like midfield in Bruno and at CB. Then next summer move for Sancho}

09 Jun 2019 12:46:25
No i don't agree, we keep making the same mistakes going for this very expensive type of players, let's build a team first, a unit, then we can concentrate on bringing this "stars", we don't need Bale at all, let's get a very speedy and effective right footed right winger not another Jone's buddy at the medical center. I respect your opinion but i don't agree with it, no to Bale, YES to Wan Bissaka and Koulaby if its true that we are after him or any experienced center back, those 2 have to be our next signings let's build from the back.

{Ed004's Note - Hopefully we are learning from our mistakes. If we went and signed Wan Bissaka, Koulibaly, holding mid, Bruno and say someone like Felix thatll cost a fortune. But it would also leave us clear as to what our first choice 11 is/style of play we would be implementing. Bale would come in and be instant first pick on the right}

09 Jun 2019 13:30:44
Well whoevers been picking the transfers the last few years needs a p45. And if Ole proves incapable and goes then fine as long as Woodward follows him for gross incompetence.

09 Jun 2019 14:25:17
If ole does well he will be kept If he doesn't he won't be.
If bale signs on loan and even plays half the games in the season he is better and more effective than any of our current attackers at least we would be better when he is fit. If they can do a deal that isn't financially dumb then i'd take bale on loan for 2 seasons like bayern did with james.
We have a lot of young players who should aspire to win what bale has. His experience could be invaluable.
Is bale better than martial currently or jessie. i'd say he is and i'm sure he would want to do well if he came back to the epl.
Rb cb 2 cm rw plus a striker and keeper if lukaku sanchez and ddg leave. If they don't then those 5 positions should be the priority imo.

09 Jun 2019 14:27:22
Id only take him on a pay as you pay deal nothing else. Then if that was agreed we would have to place a sick bed at both ends of the pitch left Corner flag.

Bale could eaen his wages on appearances alone.

09 Jun 2019 14:42:34
I agree ed. hopefully we can get WB and add a decent CB to go with lindoff and we would have a pretty decent young defence. 2 English full backs aswell.

Agree on bale if the loan fee would be a decent price then the gamble is well worth it.

But the defence and central areas are a must this window.

09 Jun 2019 15:25:48
Thanks for the info Ed.

09 Jun 2019 18:10:16
@ED004 Rashford/ Martial in left/ right were pretty average to be honest. United badly need a player or two who run with the ball like Messi/ Salah/ Hazard and attract defenders to free up space for others, currently only martial is trying it atleast without any success. I hoped Pogba can do bulldozing run from Centre Midfield with the ball like Yaya Toure for city but he is not doing it and easily lose the ball in a dangerous area.

{Ed004's Note - All 3 of Rashford, Martial and Lukaku are capable of beating a man. We just need to quicken up our attacking transitions and fitness levels to maintain a pressing style of play}

09 Jun 2019 18:16:26
Forget Bale go all out for Bruno and Felix if we want to think long term.

The only. player that i will have short term would be Ronaldo.

He will guarantee you goals and wouldn't get injured like Bale but i don't think that is possible so would just go out for the next best Young player in Felix as we don't have no chance of getting Mbappe.

{Ed004's Note - Thats what the ideal scenario would be.}

09 Jun 2019 18:55:41
100 percent agreed Ed.

09 Jun 2019 19:23:56
Bruno looks likely, Felix much more difficult I think.

Bale would be awesome on loan deal
down our right and I’d have him in a heartbeat.

If we can bag AWB and Alderweireld to partner Lindelof we are looking in decent shape.
