Not the first time this has happened but numerous reports suggesting United have won the bidding war for Rabiot
How would people feel about adding the Frenchman to our midfield?

Agree2 Disagree1

Not the best piece of business, he is a pain to manage by all accounts, ability wise a pretty decent replacement for hererra but do we need another problem child in the squad.

I like him. Think he’s a very good player and an upgrade on Herrera. Obviously there is chat about his attitude and baggage, but I do think PSG have treated him terribly and have sidelined him. Personally, I would be pleased with him joining.

In footballing perspective, he was a top prospect an year ago.
If he can find that level, he would immediately improve our midfield.

Can pass the ball forwards and his second touch isn't a tackle. Therefore he is an upgrade on all our midfielders apart from pogba.

Hmm tough one. Talent wise he is a great player, he is also a hard worker.

There has been recent reports about his attitude, although this has come out during his spat with PSG who themselves have acted appallingly. There isn't any prior reports of him having a bad attitude.

Supposedly his mum is a pain to deal with and was the reason for his move to Barcelona falling through. However, there have been reports that since then he has removed his mum as his agent which could smooth things when attempting to sign him.

I would be prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt over the recent poor attitude reports. He could be a relatively cheap option who would offer huge upside if he came.

He has the best qualities of Matic and Herrera with the added ability of being really good playmaker. Mobile, hard working, defensively astute and able to control/ dictate play.

Let's see what happens.

{Ed004's Note - If the wages are reasonable it could be a very astute deal. Im still hoping we get Fernandes but a midfield 3 of Rabiot (holding), Pogba and Fernandes (box to box) would hopefully have plenty of energy and technical ability. Can always play Matic, Fred or Mctominay if we want extra defensive cover}

Mike. Nothing from the player. Nothing from his agent. Nothing from the club. So read into that.
Most probably being fed to the press from his side in the hope that a bidding war begins.
I think he looks a good player with good physical and technical attributes.
Has been reared badly by psg this last 6 month.
Ed002 says he comes with significant baggage. Maybe that's why he has not got the offer he wants.

correct me if i am wrong ed but didn't both his father and grandmother pass away in January? if so then surely that will have had a huge impact on him. i know not football related but i'm sure the last 6 months being sidelined has not been the nicest experience.

{Ed004's Note - I think I read something about that happening in January, not sure. Itll have been a tough year for him Im sure.}

Ken, I take your point but we don’t always hear directly from players, agents or clubs during transfer dealings. I did lead with ‘not the first time this has happened’
We have seen similar stories in the past, I know.

Ken, didn't you mention on the rumour page about a certain Portuguese midfielder possibly join the club though a contact. Now that isn't anything official from the club, the player, the players representatives, his current club or from the press.

That's the way transfer rumours work, they don't always come from direct sources. Occasionally someone working with the club or the representatives or someone who knows the player says something to a friend who says something to another friend and before you know it we have a genuine bonafide rumour.

In not comparing rabiot but a certain Eric Cantona came with baggage too.

Fernandes has said
"I like Liverpool a lot more [than Man City],  "It's a more direct [style of play], more offensive, maybe less organised, but more intense football. "
Read into what you will.

Exactly shappy. Nothing coming groom anybody official often points to a potential deal. That's what i said 'read into that' its a possibility.
But its also using united to flush a deal out elsewhere is also a possibility.
On balance i think there could bee some truth in this one and that we are making efforts to sign him.
