Hey Ed's

Do you know If the club plan to invest in the stadium. I know they have made minor changes with disability section but what about maintenance and more capacity.

Stadium looks as if it's not being looked after.

{Ed002's Note - I am sure it is being maintained. They will not be able to increase capacity.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It will have to be maintained to stay open, but building one the trainline behind the stadium has always been the major reason why capacity cannot be increased.

Its doable though according to the feasibility studies. The PLC backed away based on cost. Of course the parasites will back away on the same grounds.

{Ed001's Note - actually the PLC initially dropped the idea as they claimed that they would not fill the extra seats! Unbelievable now when you look back that they could be so short-sighted when it was affordable.}

The club were required to make changes in relation to the disability section.

In terms of stadium expansion, the railway does present issues but apparently feasibility indicates it can be done. However bringing the South stand up to scratch will cost the club lots of money. There has to be demand for seats, yet they continue to sell all the season tickets, the product needs to remain at a high level mind you.

Usually in major building projects a business will borrow money to undertake capital works, to the benefit of the business. Unless you missed it, our owners plunged us into £400m debt, by all accounts over £1Bn has gone out of the club that didn’t need to with different owners, not to build a stand or buy players but just for their benefit, it’s called a leveraged buy out, all perfectly legal. However, it means we have one of, if not the highest, net debts in world football and none of it benefitted the club. So when we need to borrow to build a stand we have to start from a very poor position in terms of existing debt. Don’t be surprised if the stadium stays as it is, declining or not moving forward until we get new owners.
