Angel Gomes departure rumours doing the rounds. Sounds like Herrera has put him in his removal van to PSG.

No idea if true, however arguably the last thing United need right now is for future prospects to be unsettled. If true, is this a case of an impatient youngster not being ready or a genuinely "ready" talent being held back?

I think the strength of the "lightweight not ready for the PL" argument has been well and truly destroyed by David and Bernado at City!

I know what your saying about size but Gomes is even smaller and far more lightweight than those two. I personally don’t think he will make it but hope otherwise. If he has said what is reported then it’s goodnight Vienna I’m afraid. Most of these supposed wonder kids have there filled with absolute tosh from most coaches I know from my 15 year old being in the academy process. Glorified PE coaches most of them.

Bye bye Gomes.

14 May 2019 15:44:09
There is a big difference between small and lightweight the 2 silva's are small not light weight, gomes on the other hand genuinely looks like a shoulder to shoulder will end up with him ending up a few feet from where he started.

Gomes needs to fill out. I'm not a fan of the idea that you need to have a certain physique to play football in the EPL. That isn't true, there are many examples of players with a smaller stature being able to compete at that level. However, it isn't Gomes's height that is the problem, more that he hasn't yet filled out. There is a concern that he could be injured when going toe to toe with many EPL players.

That said, playing at youth level is beneath him at this stage. A loan out to a less physically demanding, but of higher technical skill is what he needs at this juncture. Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands could all be good destinations for him.

Hopefully, that is what he was was getting at with these comments. There are no direct quotes, just suggestive comments from someone "close to the player". So there may or may not be anything in these comments. He is a super talented lad, who needs a good structure to his development. If the club can get it right then we will have a great young player. Let's wait and see.

I have a hard time believing this one. I have heard great things about Gomes, and the idea of a loan makes sense to where he can gain experience.

14 May 2019 17:24:04
He is still an old boy not yet developed into a young man.
He has a contract. There is no issue. Bad red devil. I bet the publication that released t hay crap also has had us signing at least 2 dozen different names.
Why does anyone believe all this crap?

14 May 2019 17:30:21
Stick him in the championship for a season, that’ll learn him!

14 May 2019 17:52:56
You often get noises like this at the end of a season, however how are his compatriots in the World Cup winning team progressing? He could and should have had some time at the end of the season yet got none or almost none, that has to rankle with him. It happened to city with Sancho and Brahim so easily happen with Gomes. Depends how they have been managing him and the explanations as to why he wasn’t given any time at all on the pitch. At that age you think you are better than you are but if you are given no time at all then you may agitate to go.

14 May 2019 18:29:39
Red man disagree completely. If your 18 and supposedly a Utd fan and your around the first team it’s what I and many of us would dream for. If he’s good enough he’ll get his chance. It beggars belief the impatience of some people. He’s 18 for Christ sake but looks 12.He would be bullied off the ball so easily. If he wants to play regular then a loan is in order but these kids think there too good for a loan and should be starting every game.

14 May 2019 18:39:56
Blackpool Red

So he was ok for Mourinho to give a sub appearance nearly what 2 years ago but not good enough to get on the pitch. So we prefer non performing experience over even 15 mins of youth?

If he isn’t good enough fair enough but to go with experience over youth when you are being let down with experience is illogical. I would rather have lost with those kids given minutes but making managerial decisions when under pressure is not easy, takes experience and confidence.

14 May 2019 18:39:12
Would agree a loan to a championship call will do good for him. The championship league is a tough place and he will show people what h3 is made off.

14 May 2019 19:05:07
You don’t get my point. If it’s true what’s he’s said then it’s another kid getting too big for his boots. I’d rather play youngsters than these overpaid clowns.

14 May 2019 19:32:31
Singh I was half joking actually as I think he’d be massively humbled and it would prove him wrong, but who knows it might be a good move.

Perhaps a season in Portugal would be better for him.

14 May 2019 20:28:56
He has to test himself somehow and if he isn't going to get games here and its no point playing for under 21s or as you don't learn much.

It would be better for him to either stick and fight buf if he is itching for a move then he can go on loan and test himself.

14 May 2019 20:32:29
Don't think he will make it balckpool red? as what a footballer? or with Utd? because he will defiantly make it as a footballer, he's a class little player and would be stupid to let him go.

14 May 2019 20:42:34
More and more youngsters from PL are echoing similar sentiments and expressing similar desires it seems. They see a kid like Sancho moving to Bundesliga and lighting it up, and they're probably wondering why they should wait patiently and go on loans left and right.

If Gomes is feeling that way, then it's no different to a couple of youngsters of ours (Chelsea) . Just recently we had a top GK prospect decline to extend his contract and he's joining PSG on a free this summer.

14 May 2019 22:09:34
All Ole apparently said is that he's physically fragile. Which he is. A good gust of wind could have him over. Imagine a shoulder barge off of some big meat head.

14 May 2019 22:29:13
😂😂😂😂😂.

14 May 2019 22:52:28
Kids develop muscle mass at different stages. He is a late developer In that sense . He is a very talented kid. But even at 18 he is physically behind where many a16 yo would be. He just needs to be patient. Its unwise sms wrong to over train until a certain muscle mass is naturally developed. If you do you will hamper growth of natural muscle mass which leads to muscle issues long term.
Jessie had the same issue. Great at under age but didn't make any impact at men's level until he was 22.
Its not about heigths either. Remember pallister. A bean pole when he arrived.
He will always be small in stature but he can be as strong as aguero salah hazzard etc who are all diminutive players who you just can't knock off the ball.
He can get there he needs to listen to the best advice work on his skills movement passing technique and just wait for his body to catch up. PATIENCE.

14 May 2019 23:21:29
rubbish. Best at 17 / 18? Put weight on when he was 20.Can only knock him over if they can catch him. Go Angel prove these "know all's" wrong son!

15 May 2019 06:49:25
He’s one of our highest rated youngsters yet he is sat watching players underperforming every week and he can’t get on the pitch. If he isn’t going to get a chance this year then when is he? I’d be peed off.

15 May 2019 07:21:37
Ignorance is bliss.
