Under PSR, it can sometimes be more financially beneficial for a club to keep a player on high wages for the remainder of their contract rather than sell them at a loss. This is because the transfer fee for a player is amortized over the length of their contract, and selling for less than the purchase price can lead to a significant financial loss, negatively impacting the club's financials. Retaining the player avoids recognizing this loss and can be a more stable option, even if it means paying high wages.

Given Ineos' focus on balancing the books, I believe they would prefer to keep some players rather than declare additional losses. I think players like Heaton, Bayindir, Lindelöf, Johnny Evans, Eriksen, Rashford, Sancho, and Antony will likely be moved on. However, it’s hard to see many other players leaving without high offers coming in (with Casemiro potentially moving to Saudi Arabia, for example) .

I also hope Ineos begins to adopt a Chelsea-like approach by moving on academy players who won’t make the cut but can still contribute to PSR as 100% profit.

That's true kurtis but the break even on cas is 15m. Sancho 27m. Onana 26m malacia 4m zirkzee 22 rasmus 38m. Bayidir 1.8m deligt 28m
Any fee received for Maguire dalot garnacho rashford Shaw is 100% profit.
Cas may survive and onana is probably the other major concern in that regard.

9 remaining from that list at the end of the next window. 7 min.
Onana, Shaw, deligt, maguire, dalot, lindelof, garnacho, zirkzee rasmus.
By the end of next summer I still see 3-4.
deligt, dalot, garnacho.

Other than Chelsea last season, I can't recall a Prem team ever having a mass exodus on the scale being predicted.

Isn’t PSR getting replaced after next season anyway to only being able to spend 70 percent of your income on footballing finances and then 65 percent if in Europe.

Other than sancho who is obligated to leave the likes of rashford, Casemiro, Anthony, Mount, will be hard to sell these players with the wages they are on

Can see us loaning rashford again in the summer and being stuck with Casemiro till his contract expires

Evan’s
Linder
Heaton
Erickson are all leaving on a free transfer

Rashford casimiro Antony are all on 200k plus

Then the likes of Mount and shaw who are always injured no one will buy those 2

If we can get the bigger wages off the books while still able to get fees then it shouldn’t look to bad financially

We just need to be smart in the window and get the right players in.

I think Onana stays and Casemiro unless Saudi come in with a good offer on wages and like you say we will want to get some kind of fee.

We also have the prospect of getting money for greenwood if he ends up being sold as part of the deal when we sold him

I don’t think the finances are as bad as everyone is reporting maybe the club are leaking info so we don’t get over charged could be a tactic the club are using

But wages for underperforming players need to be addressed.

We’re giving salah type money for average type performances.

That has been changed due to legal challenges on the new proposals despite being voted in bolger. as I understand it.

I came here looking for Shappy because he's still ignoring me in our WhatsApp chat, but this has blown my mind. You've listed most of your squad and managed to miss off two of the biggest issues; Martinez and Mount.

You're carrying too many non-contributors. Shaw, Malacia, Martinez and Mount are the priorities to replace. Followed by Evans, Casemiro and Eriksen who are OAP's and shouldn't be anywhere near a Premier League football pitch. You literally just need to replace those 7 players as a starting point and then you'll be able to fairly judge the others in a years time.

Sancho, Rashford and Antony you just have to write off. They're no longer United players far as I've concerned but you've already replaced them. You have Bruno, Garnacho and Diallo for the inside forward/ AM positions and Hojlund, Zirkzee and Obi for your striker positions. Replace Mount so you have a 4th option behind the strikers and then back your youth. Otherwise you'll just end up with another Carreras/ Gomes situation, where you're kicking yourselves for not being patient.

You've listed like 17 people there mate. That's a squad that's won 2 trophies in 2 years when playing to their strengths. Amorim is just trying to instil a new system without a pre-season amidst an injury crisis. United can't keep tearing up the entire squad every couple of years. That's why you are perpetually in transition.

I really don't think that Onana, Bayindir, Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot, De Ligt, Zirkzee, Hojlind, Garnacho etc are immediate issues. Just by the mere fact they'll go on the pitch and fight for the badge (unlike the 7 players I've listed who can't get on the pitch to fight or are too old to fight when they do) . I get it's been a hard season and guys like me poking fun at you probably doesn't help, but you've got to rise above it and support your team. You can't realistically believe that throwing out 16 players (not even including Martinez, Mount and Antony) in the next 12-18 months is a legitimate approach.

Adam you know shappy won't reply if he has to admit he is wrong on something it's not in his nature he finds it near impossible to do.
It's tricky selling players like monut and martinez as they are injured do you think they're will be takers for martinez with his cruciate issue. I think not hence left off the saleable list.
Of the 17 6 will be out of contract in the timescale mentioned sancho is obligated to Chelsea and rashford will be sold. As well garnacho due to the profit he will generate. Bit like couthino when he left you guys. Keeper and high earners like casimero and rashford maguire are the biggest issues. I'll bet you that there will be no more than 3 of those at united by end of summer window 26. I wouldn't be surprised to see none there at all.

They'll be desperate to get Luke Shaw and Mason Mount fit, even if only for a sale, which in Shaw's case would be all profit. Onana was a mistake, but it's one we may have to live with for another year. Lindelof, Evans and Eriksen will leave at the end of end of their contracts. Heaven will come through. Keeping Maguire for another year obviated the need to go out into the market and spend £50m + £15m in wages for an immediate replacement. In other words Maguire is half the price of a top replacement in 2025/ 6.

We also need to consider that we're a bottom half club committed to an unproven system, with no European football in all likelihood. That reduces the pool of candidates. On the other hand it reduces the number of games the team will be committed to play meaning we could manage with a slightly smaller squad. I can see us selling one of Garnacho or Mainoo for pure and significant profit. Mainoo has obviously been hampered by injuries all season. We have no idea what Amorim thinks of his potential. Garnacho just seems to be a player who needs to gain confidence in front of goal. If he can't up his strike rate he won't be of much use.

Hopefully someone will buy Rashford and Antony, and Chelsea are committed to buying Sancho. We'll be looking at a significant drop in revenue next season if we don't win the Europa. That's going to make balancing the books even harder. So many of our costs are fixed. There's going to need to be some pretty savvy purchasing in terms of summer if we're going to improve the squad and keep the finances in order.

Add mainoo to list. utd will sell him for max profit and with him rejecting his offer. club can blame mainoo and cash in. wouldn't be surprised to see nancho gone too. they only seem to care about cashing in now.
