I'm going to be interested to see how we do this afternoon against an Arsenal side that's got its mojo back after Odegard's return from injury.

There's been a lot of talk about systems needless to say, but from what I can see it does seem that the 3 at the back approach risks leaving too much space behind the wing backs. Omari Hutchinson exploited it well. I would expect Saka and Martinelli/ Trossard to do even better if we overcommit. Sporting got a very flattering result against City. They were exposed many times but City failed to capitalize. Nor do I see Arsenal giving us goals by being caught in possession as has been the case against Bode and Everton.

Amorim seems to want the team to fully commit to the press, leaving man v man at the back and trying to win the ball back high. Very interested to see how flexible his approach is today against a very strong possession team. Will we adjust and play to counter, or will we be brave and back ourselves and press high.

For me this is a free hit either way. We are not expected to win, I would be impressed if amorim sticks to his guns and pushes the team up. If we do play to counter, it will show how the system can be flexible.

Bit of a downer but not unexpected. 2 more one yard thunderbolts from Arsenal.

Haha. Learn how to defend better or stop crying. Could have been 6 or 7 in the second half.

Brilliant corners by Arsenal but otherwise, despite the dominance in the second half, Onana hardly had a shot to save.

Gooner Jim

Did you not win via the only 2 corners from 13 attempts that led to goals?
These corner routines that everyone thinks are something so maverick, yet your kippers needed the 15.38% success rate to drag you over the line - what a boast.

Considering how much further down the path of development Arsenal are, I'd say a 2-0 win at home against a team of United's current standard that's still adapting to a new system with an injury-hit defence, courtesy of 2 corners, should count as more of an embarrassment than a statement.
Title contenders? Pfft, behave.

Try another boast, go on, you're funny. ?.

Ork, what a weird contention. If it were that easy to score, we'd see cricket scores in every match and every week. This is football. 15.38% success isn't to be scoffed at - especially when you're languishing in mid table.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't scoff at a success rate in football of 15.38%, but I will always scoff at such meagre support for a soppy mug of a boast from someone who might benefit from giving their telly a clean.

He claims it could have been 6 or 7 in the second half - they only had 6 on target shots to test the keeper throughout the whole match, where did the 7 come from?
Defend better? 5 of their shots were blocked, who blocked them, spectators?
They had 0.6% more possession at home against a midtable team, champions-elect my arse.

Weird contention? Perhaps, but nowhere near as absurd as the boast provided by Jim.

There were plenty who immediately jumped on United's 4-0 win at home against Everton - the 'relegation fodder' and 'formality' crap - but I would contend further that, for Arsenal, this 2-0 win and the manner in which it was got is no better for a title contender than United's win against Everton - yet we still get the pathetic boasts coming from those who need to pull down their knickers before they put their hats on.

Like a clown with a squirty flower, Jim's attack has created an unavoidable splashback - I like clowns, I think they're funny.

Well we just past a decade without the PL and your almost as long as the scousers.

Let's come back if RA gets to manage MU as long as Arteta and still not win anything. Oh and we don't get freeand cheap handouts from our mentors.

Brilliant corners. Fantastic delivery. Really vital part of the game set pieces and arsenal do them better than anybody else.
We did OK for 70 mins then it got a bit sloppy.
Really admire when a team maximises itself in any facat and they could have got a couple more.
Rather than dismiss it or make light of it I'd rather congratulate them for the excellence in that dept.
If we were scoring from corners most weeks our fans would be delighted and praising the coaches.
Imo the manner of the Ferrari lay night was a big improvement o the manner of defeat in days gone by.
Well done arsenal.

Ork, I'm pretty sure fans on all sides embellish more than just a little. Almost every week we're entertained by shappy's predictions of what's to come and how good you're going to get. Hitting back at an absurd boast with something equally ludicrous just seems like reaching, to me.

We should all like clowns, and fear them, in equal measure. Have you seen the size of their shoes/ feet?

Hi Ork.

I’m so sorry you did not like my absurd boast about scoring 6 or 7 last night. Of course, I embellished a little and did not mean for you to take it quite so literally. I do apologise. I was at the game in the North Bank and haven’t seen any highlights back yet.

We most definitely should have scored more than the 2 we did. Saka’s chance, Partey’s one, Havertz and the corner after the second goal spring to mind as big chances spurned.

I’m glad I made you laugh anyhow. As for being further down the path of development than yourselves, when would you like this development path to begin? You were in a transitional period 11 years ago when David Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Solskjaer, ETH and I can’t remember all the interim managers, alll took charge. How many times would you like your developmental or transitional period to start?

Don’t forget, half of our usual back four were missing as well.

I think it’s embarrassing that all of the prem teams can’t defend arsenal corners.
1) Put men on the post for starters (Mazraoui would have stopped the first one with this simple change)
2) make first contact! It really isn’t that hard to attack the ball and be the one that gets there first.

There are fouls being committed in those corners. its so many bodies in there that its difficult for the ref to see what is going on. blocking, pushing in the back, pushing the goalie are all fouls. In basketball its called a pick and roll but this is not basketball.

ahmad, stop! Fouls being committed, pffft. Ridiculous really. VAR scrutinizes ever goal. They took an age to decide on the second. Take the L and move on.

Complete lack of understanding and appreciation for the game.
