Anybody watching Arsenal on Amazon Prime?

Ringing any bells?

They backed the manager, are we backing ETH?

Time will tell but we all have to back ETH he is a great coach.

We were having a few drinks with tim sherwood and a few friends of his after playing golf down at valderama. One of the guys with tim was josh barnett who’s dad i think has a big sports agency and he is himself an agent and reckons arsenal can win the league. I was not paying much attention to what he was saying but a buddy of mine who is a mad liverpool supporter was telling me this later at dinner.

We don’t HAVE to do anything, the manager is a transitory employee, I back my club and my team. The manager either has the gravitas for instant respect or it needs to be earned. Moyes and Ole didn’t have gravitas or CV that said they could be manager, Jose did and to an extent so did LVG. It may not be popular but ETH has some gravitas shall we call it, very good coach but has not managed at this level either of club or league, so there remains an element of doubt. His start in terms of transfer targets is not inspiring, players he has worked with, who he trusts.

ETH could become a very good manager, now the club need to give him time and support. I would suggest the club also need to show balance in transfer dealings, the manager has no experience at the level, his instinct to be surrounded by those players he knows, should, in my opinion be challenged to an extent, he needs some guidance. Perhaps guidance was given over Arnautovic. The only problem is that those above him appear clueless.

ETH also needs to wake up to McFred, Rashford and buying a striker. His first selection was not impressive, but let’s hope that improves quickly.

As you can tell I am not all in on ETH as yet, potential is there but his appointment was another risk given his lack of experience in any of Europes major leagues.

Blimey this must be incredible Friday! I find myself agreeing with Shappy on Rashford and now fully agree with RedMan on his post regarding TH. I am agreement his signings have been uninspiring his team selection dubious to say the least and I agree he is a gamble, hopefully he can make the step up and turns out to be an astute signing as manager and can really build a decent team.

Hopefully the club can also build behind the scenes it’s early days, ok they put new people in, they can’t just turn round in month 2 and say that’s not working let’s change all them again, if your all giving TH the benefit you have to supply the same logic to Arnold and Murtough….

You can’t start a new strategy one month and then decide the next it’s not working let’s change again, people have to settle people have to implement change, that’s not 1, 2 or 3 month excercise

Why you judging TH different then your judging the behind the scenes staff, they all have something to prove at this level.

Red Man. He’s wanted midfield signings so he’s alive to the fact McFred are poor. He wants Gakpo so again is alive to the issues on the left and up top. My opinion anyway.

You seem not to be a fan of his, but let’s be honest whilst he gets criticism (rightly so) about the De Jong chase. We aren’t privy to what those working on the deal are telling him, for all we know murtough has told him no need to move on. Ask yourself why we are going for rabiot? When Ed gave us the midfield targets he was right down the bottom or maybe not even on it!

Of course EtH is responsible for what we see in the pitch. I won’t dispute that. However, the areas the players he’s targeted in are clear enough to me that he knows the issues. I bet arnautovic wasn’t our back up choice to Nunez. But you can probably bet he was told from above you have funds available for Nunez or De Jong. I might be wrong there, but that’s a theory I have. Like I say could be bolloxolgy. But he needs time from us and support, because ultimately if we overreact to everything and blame everything on him then another manager gets the sack and we sit back at square one with another new manager needing loads of investment that he won’t get.

We all know the major issue at the club, and at this moment in time it isn’t the manager.

Redman

I agree what you are saying.

When I said are we backing ETH I mean as in the club.

I don't think Arsenal fans backed Arteta at first.

Things take time, but Arsenal clearly backed him with signings he wanted regardless of price. They got in young talent who could be made better and play a certain way. We should be doing the same in my opinion, we won't be challenging again for a few years at least, we need some perspective as a club.

So please answer this all those moaning about Arnold and Murtough, have they not been in the job the same amount of time as Ten Haag, so if your willing to give him time, why are you judging the others with a different compass, surely if you give one latitude you have to give the others the sawme.

Why is it when we’re linked with a player you don’t like and don’t get its Murtough and Arnold’s fault, but when linked with same players you like they somehow become Ten Haag recruits

Your using double standards to judge the same thing and that’s plainly wrong, if Arnold and Murtough are to be sacked as you want then you have to sack TH too, because all in same boat. I seem to remember TH wanting overall say in transfers and by the looks of it that’s what he got, so you can’t blame one without the other that’s just childish.

Lets see what happens from here till the end if the window and 10/ 15 games into the season. Way too early imo to judge anything.

Exactly, to be fair we are all going to have to reserve judgment till at least end of the season, so to include rest of this transfer window and the next one and hopefully also see some sort of improvement on the pitch and some sort of direction, if no green shoots by then, they can all be disposed of far as I am concerned, but it’s plain wrong making judgments already and also abusing any players we might go or not go for.

Do I think Ten Haag is the man. probably not
Do I think Murtough and Arnold are right. probably not
Do I think Ten Haag made a ash of the first game . yes I do
Do I think all the signings mentioned that we have actually gone for or signed are Ten Haag choices . Yes I do

Do I think they are right signings. No I don’t.

But you have to give a season to be proved right or wrong and all have to be judged the same, not differently…. At end of the day no stats, no claptrap no wingding it will be about where in the league we finish and points that define if successful or not!

Hello, arsenal fan here. i'm sure everyone knows the stick MA got after the first 3 games last season. Whilst i'm not saying is the chosen one, i am glad he was given time and support by the board. Winning over the fans is a whole other thing. This can only be achieved with results.

Personally i think ETH is a really good coach/ manager. The sentiments about him not ever be in charge of a club like manchester utd is rightly so too but the cracks within this squad is pretty large and only time can tell if ETH can fix them up.

Newyorker, can we please give ETH a chance. He's had one match, the team played very poorly. Let's see what happens by the end of season. RedMan didn't want ETH and preferred Simione as manager, so he'll need convincing re ETH. But I'm sure you'll agree that ETH brand of football in his previous clubs is more interesting than Simione's boring brand of football.

AAA

I preferred a manager who had achieved in a top league, Simeone, Conte, Tuchel, I wanted Pep and Klopp previously . I am not against ETH, but as you say need convincing. It is all about winning, fancy football means nothing, trust me, the scousers told us that with bells on in the 80’s.
