3 new recruits, all ETH picks apparently which is good news.

However, we remain shockingly light of quality in midfield and continue to chase a player who doesn't want to come to us.

Go figure.

AJH - I get the worry with De Jong but can't believe that we are persuing this without an understanding that he would be willing to come and Barcalona are willing to sell.
This could be blind stupidity but if he is the one player the De Jong wants I am happy to wait. We have Erikson coming in that will add some quality in midfield and I genuinely believe that Savage/ Iqbal/ Garner could have an impact as the season goes on.
I am happy with the recruits to date, all look quality and will fit the way EtH wants to play over the next couple of years.

It’s now being widely reported that FDJ has stated he has “no desire to play for Manchester United”. Ed02 has also consistently stated that FDJ does not want to come to United. So given that, I am confused as to why we are still chasing the player. It makes no sense no matter how much ETH might want him. If the player doesn’t want to be here we should be looking elsewhere.

I think midfield and up front are both problems this year.

In midfield we have lost two regular starters - Pogba and Matic without replacing them. This is on top of the midfield being a weak point last season with them. It might be possible to have a youth player step up as one the replacements. But going into the new season with McFred as the only established midfielders would be an unmitigated disaster. Still not convinced that either DVB or Eriksen can play in a midfield without an outright holding player. I think the club is continuing to waste time on FDJ and this could cost us.

Up front, if Ronaldo leaves, we are left with Martial as the main striker, with Rashford as back up. Ignore the hype of Martial being rejuvenated under ETH. We’ve seen too many false dawns to be fooled again. He might have a good run of games, but soon enough he’ll be back to the lazy, anonymous performances. Rashford just doesn’t have the killer instinct to be a striker. He’s better off rediscovering his form on the wing. I think that failure to bring in a new striker will cost us next year too.

Brad. do not show to much confidence in what United Transfer guys can do and can not do. they are just horrible.
So, it's time to move on and tell to EtH that. hey bald man. he is not the last player on earth.

Good day all first timer on here, @danny we all know how martial have failed us but for you to reach a conclusion on him already without kicking the ball is laughable. Yes there's a need to strengthen in attack, but I strongly believe he will be different under ETH.

I don't see how losing Pogba should be a big problem. He only played 20x last year and scored 1 goal. 20/ 21 was not a whole lot better. On top of that he was never what you might call a defensive asset. For me, Pogba was the poster boy for everything wrong at United. Eriksen is an upgrade. And we all know that Matic, despite his abilities, was slow and past it.

Up front, while Ronaldo scored a lot of goals, the rest of the team suffered offensively. Could it be because "give it to Ronaldo" - which seemed to be both his and the manager's instruction - is not an effective team strategy. When you are trying to rebuild a team there is no long term benefit to changing everything to suit a 37 y. o It's actually disruptive. Let's hope Ronaldo moves on, and if not, he willingly plays according to the manager's instruction and only as often as the manager requires. Signing Ronaldo was a mistake both for the club and Ronaldo himself.

If the de Jong deal falls through I expect we will sign someone else, although not necessarily in that position - possibly Antony. I do not think we will make two more big purchases. The DM will just have to wait for a subsequent window. I also expect that if EtH can get this team playing the pressing game as he requires players like Fred and McTom will actually do better than they have in the past.

Uwaluv, he has been here for 7 years and has kicked many balls, think it’s fair to make a judgment at this stage.

He has played under numerous managers, in a number of positions. Every time the end result has been the same, the manager getting frustrated by Martial’s inconsistency, lack of work rate and poor attitude.

Ole is the prime example. He made Martial the main striker in his first full season. Got 6 good months out of him, then the form dropped. By the next year an ageing Cavani had pushed him out of the first team. Season after he was surplus to the squad. He even flopped on his loan.

The problem isn’t talent, he just doesn’t have the application or attitude to be a top class player.
