I wonder how people would feel if we didn't sign anybody this summer. Instead we build a playing style and a strong team ethic where we are all pulling in the same direction. Ok, we don't challenge but see an improvement in all the players and team performance. An us against the world mentality.

I’d take it if it also meant paying off Martial, Jones etc to get them out of the club and have a proper squad clear out and refresh. No players in the squad who will cause issues, who can’t be arsed or don’t have a future as they aren’t good enough, then play the players who have a future and some youngsters for a season.

I said I’d be happy with this ages ago when speaking to friends, even if it meant a bad season league position wise, although I don’t think it would be any worse than what we have seen this past season, and there would be a reason and direction to it at least.

Well if we didn't sign anyone this summer then we probably should have got Mauricio Pochettino as manager.

I will be happy providing as Brendan says, we get rid of martial, Jones, Bailly, Pereira, AWB, telles. Give the youngsters a chance. We won't make top 10 but if it means the club gets back to its roots, then so be it.
DSG, not sure what Poch could do that ETH can't.

With Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Matic, Cavani, Grant and potentially Henderson gone, we need players. I get the rebuild and getting a playing style back etc but our current mob aren’t up to scratch for a club our size. It would mean Fred, McTominay and Garner are our only CM, obviously Fernandes, Van de Beek and Hannibal play centrally but that’s not enough.
Same woeful defence, unbalanced forward line. No way can we endure another season with this lot. Ten Hag or not.

How would fans feel if, having gambled by not signing anyone, we actually got relegated? How attractive would destination United be to top players in June 2023 if we finish 11th? Unless the manager thinks he can be successful with the remains of our current squad, not giving or at least genuinely trying to give him what he says he needs this year would be seen by the fans as a capitulation and a betrayal of their loyalty. I am not in on the promises the club made to EtH to get him to take the job, but I'm pretty sure a failure to work towards giving him the tools he need would be a betrayal of their assurances, and would completely undermine the rebuilding process.

You guys are aware that you can implement a strong style of play and a great team ethic WITH new players joining the club.

In fact in some cases that might even be easier to do so with new players in the squad.

New players with the right attitude.

New players whose skillsets suit the style of play the new manager is trying to implement.

Good playing style and team ethic is great, but its what got Brighton to 9th last season.

You know what stopped them getting top four or challenging for the title?

Not having players of sufficient quality.

Three managers have failed to get this lot to press effectively, why would they buy into EtH work ethics, they could just as easily throw him under the bus like they did with Ralf.
I expect not many of the current squad to be here in two years once EtH finds out how workshy they are.

I love the thinking behind a proper rebuild, but in all honesty, a year of midtable football followed by no europe would see EtH u der pressure and no players willing to join us. The only way it would work is to only sign players around 24 or under and try to build a team from scratch.

No chance man utd do that, sponsors and owners would go crazy.
