Seemingly nobody wants to sign up to the United 'project' under Ten Hag just yet. Looks like we have put all our eggs in one basket with De Jong though I still think, more because Barcelona need to sell, that deal will get done. Adding Eriksen on a free would be a very smart play too. His options look to be: play regular at Brentford and still live in London, move to Spurs but more likely a bit part player, or move north to us and play regular providing his feet don't get two webbed as he adjusts to Manchester's welcoming climate.

De Jong as deep-lying playmaker behind Eriksen and Fernandes has huge attacking and passing options though we would be light in terms of midfield battles perhaps. Though Ten Hags style of more aggressive attacking and defenders pushing up higher may counter some of that. Of course the plan may not be to play all 3 at once but all 3, if secured, will surely want to play permanently.

Interesting to see what happens with Ronaldo also. If he leaves, as some rumours are suggesting, that would be incredibly poorly timed given our losing out to Liverpool over Nunez. We are light up front as is with Greenwood a non-starter now one expects, Martial clearly not good enough and doubts over Rashford's form too. I hope Ronaldo stays. Still undisputedly one of the best players ever to have played the game and a joy to see him wearing a United shirt again. Pros and cons if he stays or goes given a younger more mobile striker may link better with how Ten Hag wants to set play up as well as shaving another £500k+ off the weekly wage bill too. But we need to know now whether he will be staying next term or not. Appreciate Eds have noted Mendes is looking for other alternatives with Roma recently mentioned.

Appreciate the transfer window has only been open a week but we are not City or Liverpool with existing great teams who only need to add a few players to make them stronger. With literally question marks over every position the Ten Hag re-build looks as though it may be a long, slow and at times painful one.

Regardless of where we finish in the next 3 seasons we have to give Ten Hag time. Maybe if Ronaldo left or Eriksen turned us down it would prove to be better in the long run if we targeted only players under 25 for example.

The summer will still be a long will we / won't we about signing a host of names I am sure but regardless who dons the shirt on 6Aug it can't come soon enough!

We will know in a couple of months if people don’t want to join the project. Not after a couple of days.

Agree Caolan. But Haaland and Nunez, two strikers we were interested in, can already be chalked off can't they. I don't think any one of us could be pleased with our current progress in making transfers thus far. Absolutely appreciate that may change in a week or in a month. But for now we look, as I'm sure the Eds have noted previously, 'amateur'.

Haaland wanted a buyout in his contract and mino is a C

Glad we stayed away regardless how good he is

We need to get the vulture culture out the club.

Doesn’t look great. But I think Nunez we were in for and he went to liverpool, fair enough it makes more sense. We didn’t get haaland because of the termination clause or whatever it was raiola wanted (according to Dortmund bosses. ) and that makes sense to me anyways.

Right now they are trying to get De Jong in, a player who I think has potential to improve and could be the mainstay in our midfield. So it’ll take our time up, when or if that gets done I expect the rest to follow quicker.

i think we need a player like Bissouma -and i'm disapointed we didn't get him- I hope we have a plan to sign a similar type of player-FRED isn't it - FDJ, Erikson, Neves are some of the names we've been linked to and each of them would a hard working, aggressive ball winner along side them such as Bissouma for them to be effective.

How long did Fergie take to get the squad he wanted to challenge or klopp? How long did City take to get a team to win and even with the money City had spent, Pep needed a whole new defence to win a title even after Txiki had joined to build him a side.

We knew this wasn't going to be easy nor quick, all we can do is clear out players not good enough.

Identify players that are and try and sign some of them to build a team. Some of the players won't be available yet, some might not want to come yet, they want to see us progressing.

This is an organic process, the new team will need to be built piece by piece, targets and availability will change over time and with progress.

I get how frustrating this is. Also Bissouma should never have been the answer as he is currently under investigation for a sexual assault and we don't need that over us.

{Ed014's Note - didn’t Pep win it in his 2nd season at City?

Yes I was saying fergie and klopp took time as did man City. All I said about meant about Pep was Txiki was their to build a squad for him and even then they had to buy a new defence to get them there not that Pep took years.

I'm expecting the clowns upstairs to finally get the Wesley Sneijder deal over the line this summer.

Difference is when pep asked he got.

And look at them now, absolute domaninating england apart from liverpool winning the 1 title inbetween.

If liverpool were not so good at keeping up with city the prem would look like the french leauge.

The window may only just be open, but if reports are right negotiations on FDJ started back at the end of May.
The Timber deal seems to have fallen down on the wishes of an international manager, that should easily be rectified with an assurance he will play, we ain't signing players for the bench anymore we have enough of those already.
Eriksen seems a long shot, has more ties to Spurs and they offer CL.
I'm actually not too bothered about Nunez, if have to we are up against Liverpool and City in a straight competition we will lose at the moment.
