Right Wing has been an issue for ages which last year we resolved with the £73m purchase of Sancho. Only to then play him on the left!

As Ten Hag favours inverted wingers we look to have Sancho, Elanga, Rashford and possibly Garnacho also as right-footed players vying for the Left Wing spot but no obvious left-footer for the Right Wing.

Think Shappy mentioned few days back that Antony is a logical (as well as lazy journalism) choice for Right Wing. Vocal about his admiration of Ten Hag and willingness to play for him again, 22, left-footed, knows the system. £32m valuation is Transfermarkt to be trusted. Obviously he will have other suitors but a deal to be done there surely.

As for Rashford, he is a squad player as cover for Ronaldo up top next season only surely?

After such a massively disappointing season its easy to write-off everyone and I still hope Rashford can come good again. Make or break season for him though.

I think he was purchased also because of his ability to play on either flank, as he had been for Dortmund, rather than to be just a RW.

I very well think Sancho can play RW.
Don't think he's been played there very often in our team.
I can see Rashford being the backup striker, but time will tell.
I'm not against signing Ousmane Dembele now, agreed he plays half the games, but the half he plays he's almost unstoppable.

Antony would be a good shout, however, will Ajax be prepared to lose him this summer. They have lost EtH. They are losing Gravenberch and Mazraoui, and are likely to lose Timber.

Would they be prepared to lose a 4th first team player along with the manager? Maybe, but they'd want a huge fee, 60-70m most likely. Which probably puts him beyond our reach this summer given the need to make signings in other areas being a higher priority.

Other options could be Jarrod Bowen, who has been excellent for West Ham and is obviously EPL proven. Although he would be costly as well, likely a similar price to Antony if not more.

Raphinha who could be available for between 40-50m and is EPL proven also.

Moussa Diaby from Leverkusen has had a quietly great season, and could comfortably do that role for us. He'd likely be the cheapest reportedly available for between 35-40m.

Anthony is a fantastic player. Wish we signed him this window. He works hard and is really skilful and is going to be worth megabucks if his current trajectory continues. But reality is we need other positions sorting first. Don't think Glazers will allow ETH to sign him as well in this window and that presupposes Ajax would agree to let him go.

Shappy why would they come to united you think any player would be mad to join united?
Stop suggesting names in one breath and in another say a young player should not join united even furthermore if you were a young player you would not join united which would be a good thing as people with your type of attitude would not have the character to succeed.
Fair weather man. Jump when going gets tough and as a lifelong supporter (allegedly) you would not sign for united.

I agree Sancho could do a job at RW and that's where he was intended to play surely but just noting Ten Hag seeming preference for inverted wingers. Bowen a good shout as a left-footed RW and clearly his premier league experience a much valuable asset. No doubt adding to his price tag though. Diaby I have not seen though was referenced as an option in The Athletic's recent article on potential options. As was Raphina though Barcelona heavily linked with him.

Antony would be the ideal for me and be interesting to see how many players Ten Hag has previously managed that he looks to work with again at United. Over time of course.

With 85m euros price target seemingly on De Jong as our number one target and a similar amount being banded about for Nunez our budget will be stretched as is.

I cannot imagine us spending too far north of £150m overall in the summer though appreciate we will have wages freed up with as many as 10 players leaving hopefully.

Thought we were signing Nunez to play on the left with Ronaldo and Sancho the other front three. Can't see De Jong happening now.

{Ed002's Note - No, it would be as a striker.}

Hi Ed002,
Do you expect Ronaldo to leave considering United won't be in Champions League next year.

{Ed002's Note - Christiano Ronaldo (F) It is unclear. Another player not totally happy with his lot and it is unclear how to he will be received by the new coach. I understand that he would be open to offers and that JM is making enquiries. There is already one offer on the table. The new coach or not being in the Champions League may well provide a suitable excuse to depart without upsetting the fans.}

I might be wrong but I don't think EtH uses inverted wingers on both sides, looking at Ajax this season they have a traditional left footer on the left and inverted left footer on the right. With our current attackers we could flip this logic and havea the inverted winger on the left as a right footer and a traditional right footer on the right wing.
One of these I would expect to be Sancho with any of the back ups an option depending on who steps up during pre-season under EtH.

Ken, nice attempt to misconstrue what I've said.

I didn't say no players would want to join United. I said that they would be mad to pick United ahead of other teams like Real Madrid or Liverpool currently if they had the option of moving to all three.

Common sense says most players will move to the best club available to them. Unless they have an affection for another club.

Unless your saying all players would pick United ahead of every other club? Or is that me putting words in your mouth.

As a life long United fan it pains me to say if I was a young player I'd question whether joining United was the best move for my career given the club's current state.

A young player should be concerned with only two things.

1. Will I develop and become a better player.

2. Will I win major honours at that club and become successful.

Could you hand on heart say that either one of those things is guaranteed at United given our record over the past 10 years?

Literally no player has joined United and improved in 10 years. That's shocking and a symptom of poor management, buying wrong players, hiring the wrong managers and not having a real plan. We have heard it time and again that our youth players have no clear pathway or plan to move them into the first team squad.

While when it comes to winning things, well we've won 3 trophies in 10 years, and none of them any of the major trophies players dream of winning. While it's accepted that we are at the start of our 5th rebuild in that time, and that genuinely challenging for major honours (UCL and League, the ones players actually want to win) is probably a 2-3 years away.

That's not to say no players will join or want to join (footballers aren't renowned for being the brightest) . Just that if we are in direct competition for a player with the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, PSG etc that we will likely lose out to them.

Shappy was vvd mad to pick Liverpool. Was Allison? Mane Henderson Robertson?
What had libel won for 20 odd years before they spent 2 World record fees on them.
Should they have signed for juve? Barca? Psg?
Better and more successful clubs were in for them but they wanted Liverpool.
Haaland had better clubs than dortmund wanting to sign him.
Your expectation for united is on the floor when this time last year your were posting we were 3 players short of challenging.
I don't misconstrue what you say. You talk jn so many circles and say so much that you end up contradicting yourself.

UA, Barcelona want to sell, United want to buy, Frankie doesn't want to go. Think we have been here before, only players who want to be here please.

I think getting rid of Martial, bailly, Jones Pereira, tuanzebe and telles is a must. We need to clear the decks.
Ken, while I agree that the players should be given a chance under a new manager, the aforementioned are useless and need to be sold as they being nothing to the table.
Shappy, I think Anthony would be a good addition but we have young wingers that have to be given a chance.
Whoever suggested Rashford could be backup to Ronaldo has not been watching Rashford in action the last two years, he can't be back up to me, let alone Ronaldo.

We have Sancho, Rashford, Amad, Pellestri, and Greenwood if found not guilty.

Wide forwards are well stocked - centre forward
Is seriously lacking.
