Anybody considered the possibility of a swap deal involving Lingard and Rice?
Thoughts?

I'd love that to be fair. I think Rice would be an excellent signing for us, and if we can grease the wheels of that deal by involving Lingard then great. Two birds one stone.

I would think West Ham are looking at around £70 million for Rice, maybe we could pay £30 million and include Jones in the deal?

Or we could pay £75m plus Jones as Jones brings the transfer value down.

£15 million and Rice should be enough for West Ham to get Lingard.

I suspect because it's Man Utd, Rice will cost three times the value of Lingard. Of course his age increases his value but I haven't seen a great deal other than the fact he's English to suggest he's worth towards £100m. If he was Swiss would he cost that much? Not even half.

That's the dream swap deal Scooby.
Rice is streets better than Fred.

Maybe Rice doesn't want to go to United, maybe he want's to stay in London.

Sim, Chelsea is Rice's dream move, and if Chelsea compete for his signature we will lose out.

That said many players don't end up playing for their dream club, some even end up playing for the rivals of their childhood club. Carragher, Fowler and Gerrard were childhood Everton fans, Alan Smith joined us from Leeds even though he was a die hard Leeds fan.

If Rice is given the choice of Manchester United or West Ham I would expect he'd join United.

If he has no interest in joining United then I would expect the club would have found that out via players like Rashford and Maguire who'd have chatted with him on England duty, or through Jesse who'll obviously be in regular contact with him.

Clubs put the feelers out all the time, they may even be bold enough to ask his agent whether he would be interested in a move long before they started putting the wheels in motion to try and sort a deal.

{Ed002's Note - It was Lampard interested in taking Rice back to Chelsea.}

I'm pretty sure Chelsea don't want him and don't like the optics of spending £50M+ on someone they let go.

Also didn't they get seriously iterated by Lampard asking them to sign him?

{Ed002's Note - Iterated? No. No. No ......}

Rice has surprised me I have to say. I really thought he would develop into a really top class cb. In the mould of stam. But he has taken on the no6 role and improved himself on the ball and in his positional discipline and he does a really good job for West ham.
If we can get him then he would improve our 11 straight away.
As for Jesse he is playing great. Its like he had has the weight of the world lifted off his shoulders. He reminds me of some of the United players when Jose left. He is playing with confidence and freedom. I hope he gets his move and enjoys the next few years of his career.

60 Mill and lingard for rice would be a decent deal for us. Lingard is surplus to requirements or he wouldn't be loaned. I was unsure about rice but he is a leader and does a decent job at cdm. I would like ndidi over him tho, I think with him and a fluid forward we could challenge for some silverware.

Sell pogba Fred matic, promote garner and hannibale buy rice midfield options of dvb rice garner Scott with hannibal to cover this position and Brunos any chance Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United gave Matic a nice new contract, Pogba could look to run down the last year of his contract, there has been no attempt to sell Fred, van der Beek will have options elsewhere after his career has been stalled by the amateurs.}
