Watched the Forest game today to see Garner and i was impressed with his overall performance looked a class above many on the pitch and picked up MOTM.

This is only the 3rd time I've watched him in the Championship but i have been impressed everytime.

So what does everyone think should happen next year with Garner.

Not sure if another loan to the championship were he will play everyweek or to a prem team where we can see if he is at the level bit may not get the same amount of games.

Do people think he will make the grade with us he certainly looks to be far better on the ball than Mcfred for me already.

I would love to see him in a team like Brighton or Southampton.

I think either of those would really suit him.

Both with good managers aswell who i think would appreciate his abilities.

He was given the armband today when the captain went off, that could suggest he is good enough and mature enough without another loan.

Pop over to the Forest page, the fans really do rate him. Very impressive.

{Ed077's Note - yeah they seem very impressed by him. They think he is better than the current level Forest have been playing at (i.e Championship bottom half)

He looks to have what were missing in our midfield pivot right now.

I love Mctomminay and Freds work rate and attitude but they have obvious short comings on the ball.

They just give the ball away to much.

Garner today was hitting passes allover the park and and hardly ever conceded possesion.
He was also great receiving the ball under pressure on many occasions finding a pass forward rather than back to one of the defence. This was maybe the most impressive part of how composed he was doing it.

Garner has huge potential, he has shades of Carrick about him.

That said I think he is still a year or so away from pushing for a regular spot with us.

I think he could do with a loan next season ideally to a EPL team, however the most important thing is playing time and style of play over the league.

I think it’s very harsh on McTominay to be coupling him up with Fred regards opinion.

McTominay’s passing range is actually pretty good. Fred on the other hand can’t pass water which should be no reflection on Scott.

McTominay has a decent but not great passing range, he is accurate and crisp with passes that are 5-15 yards, those over 25 yards he is okay at but not great. Fred on the other hand could misplace a 2 yard pass.

That said I feel McTominay's strengths come in a box to box roll which gets the most out of his running power and stamina, while enabling to use his physicality to pressure and win the ball, and allow him to get forward to unleash his powerful and accurate shooting. In that role his limitations to hit 30, 40 or 50 yard passes is mitigated as he wouldn't be expected to do so. In that sort of role most of his passes would be 5-20 yards. Winning it and laying it off before moving to find space, taking the ball and driving forward with it or making shorter passes in the final third.

Have to disagree entirely on that Shappy, I’ve seen a great range of passing from McTominay this season. Like with Declan Rice, another midfielder whose passing has greatly improved.
