I did say we will beat City and someone said that out players not as good as theirs lolll.

Change the coach/ cbs and we will win the title.

Is there a more influential player or better am then Bruno?

i think we are still 1 if not 2 cbs, a centre mid or 2, rw and a striker away from a challenge.

Singh, That makes little sense. So when we beat City that proves our players are better than City's. So does that mean when we lose to Sheffield United that their players are better than ours?

Fact is anyone can win a one off game, but the proof of how good your team is can be drawn out over the course of a season.

If City finish 20 points above us then their players are clearly much better, or at least their squad is much stronger. If we are to beat them over the course of the season then we will need a comparable squad. Simple as.

or comparable coach shappy?

Ken, Pep is probably the best coach in the world right now with maybe only 2 or 3 coaches anywhere in the world who could be considered comparable to him. Klopp being one.

Name me another Pep and I'll go and convince him to join United myself.

{Ed077's Note - I will start with Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Ragnick.

If they aren't appointed at the helm then no posts will be allowed by you for 24hrs Shappy😜🤣🤣

So what your saying is that the coach makes a huge difference. I think we all accept that shappy. Its the biggest difference between the 2 squads imo.

Ken
Do you think the board and the club have done a good job putting together a playing squad as good as man city's.

I think the squad is in the best shape it's been for a while jred I've been saying that for a year or so.
There is still a lot of money wasted on players that make little or no contribution. I would have preferred a little more decisiveness in off loading players.
I don't trust, rate, admire or like the manager a great deal. Ì don't think he is getting the most from the players.
In terms of players in.
Awb I like and I think he could improve a lot in both his positioning and attacking style and final ball.
Maguire I've never been one to have a go at him. Very limited player good at some stuff his fee was outrageous not his fault.
Bruno has been a big hit should have been a year earlier but they screwed up.
Cavani a good stop gap.
James effective squad player.
Fred I don't rate.
So hit and miss jred. but that's the case for every club not all signings will be good.
We have done well shifting some players on pogba and martial for me would complete that in terms of players not living up their cost.
6/ 10 would be a fair score for me. I believe we should be doing better points wise. I believe we should be doing better entertainment and style wise.
I don't enjoy watching the team most of the time but yesterday was good.

Ed077, Rangnick has been a good manager, and Nargelsman looks a great prospect.

Yet in honesty is either anywhere near the level of manager that Pep is?

I mean don't get me wrong, if it was down to me I'd bring in Rangnick for a year or two as manager then have him step back into a DoF role and to pick his successor. Which is pretty much what Leipzig did to great success.

That way he'd fully know what the squad was capable of and what needed doing to improve it. While he knows how to pick managers with a similar philosophy to him to create a more seemless transition.

But that said neither are on Pep's level. Who has not just won but dominated every league he has managed in.

{Ed077's Note - Pep has also taken over the best teams/squads in the league as well. I could throw a dozen or so names at you Shoot but you will just say they aren't as good as Pep. I could easily point out that Pep hasn't even made a UCL final for a decade or so, even when taking over the treble winning Bayern team. Every manager has his flaws.

So the club and board have done a good job building the squad.

6/ 10 jred. Not good. I don't think they have gone far enough quickly enough. I'm sure they have their reasons but that's how i see it.

So it's only a 6 out of 10 squad 👍.

{Ed014's Note - absolutely and that’s being generous!

That's not the question you asked jred. You asked me if I think the club and board have done a good job in terms of rebuilding and I think the have done a 6/ 10 job.
I think the squad is our best for some time in terms of depth.
Id have liked to have moved on from pogba and granted him his move. i'd like to have seen them be more decisive on other players and reinvesting in another top cb.
C.V. may have stunted the pace at which I would have liked to have seen from the board and I accept that.
Our squad is the 2nd best in the league imo. Chelsea running us close. Both behind city imo.
But its a squad made up of players that can produce a more entertaining and more offensive style than we are seeing imo.
In terms of first 11 when all are fit I think city liverpool both are above us based on this and last 2 seasons. Chelsea Leicester running us close. Spurs and Everton both showing good yoy improvement too. West ham have shown the best yoy improvement of all teams.
Its been a funny season.
Our away for is great our home not so good.
For me our poor run of results was no different to watch than our great run of results the only difference is we won more games but its all been the same to watch with the exception of yesterday Leeds and Southampton I feel.

Ken, you think the manager is the biggest difference between the two squads? Have you bumped your head or something?

City have a better defenders, both individually and holistically.

City have conceded 19 goals to our 32. I think that makes a huge difference.

I think if you asked most neutral fans to pick the best midfield between Fred McTominay and Bruno on one hand or Rodri, Gundogan and KDB on the other, most would pick City's midfield over ours.

I think we have some excellent young players with potential in our forward line, Greenwood and Rashford look like future greats. Martial on his day can be lethal (although I know you don't rate him) . That said City have Sterling, Aguero and Mahrez who are all league winners and have played key roles in title winning campaigns. Again here City have the edge.

Then if we look at who the squad options are for each side its clear City have a much deeper squad in terms of quality off the bench.

So City have the better players in defence, midfield attack and on the bench. But you think the only real difference is in the managers.
