Interesting stat (although context does apply) :

After 27 games

13/ 14 - 45 points (Moyes Special)

14/ 15 - 50 points (Galactico Era, RVP, Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney)

15/ 16 - 44 points (Didnt score a goal at one end of old trafford for 3 months)

16/ 17 - 50 points (Raiola Era, Zlatan, Pogba and Micky)

17/ 18 - 56 (joses best season)

18/ 19 - 52 (Worst Home kit we've ever had)

19/ 20 - 41 (how did ole keep his job when pochettino was available. )

20/ 21 - 51 points (Bruno and Rashford Carry Job)

Its not much better than LVG/ Jose if we are being brutally honest.

Add to that an embarrasing champions league exit which happened under LVG and Jose as well.

{Ed077's Note - Didn't LVG and Jose get the sack because they weren't good enough though? So matching their records surely isn't good enough?}

Without the introduction of VAR we probably would of had half the penalties and less points. And on the Bruno and Rashford carry job, have you been watching Rashford? Been woeful again as he’s too busy trying to become a national hero admins forgotten what he’s paid to do. Useless he’s been and be very lucky to make the England squad for the euros if he does.

I’ve just posted a less than flattering view of where we are, but comparisons to other seasons are slightly unfair given the shortened season. We can see across the board that everyone other than City is struggling.

It was nice to see Woodward get annoyed last night when Maguire made a howler.

Surely he can see OGS is out of his depth. It wouldn't surprise me if we ended up dropping out of the top 4 and scrapping a EL spot.

LvG lost his job because the fans kicked off and the board cracked and sacked him.

Jose lost his job because he lost the dressing room after throwing pretty much every player under the bus.

Ole still has the dressing room behind him and the majority of fans won't fly a plane over Old Trafford asking for his head so he'll keep his job as long as he maintains the clubs minimum expectations (UCL qualification) .

To be honest what this post actually highlights is that there is little difference between how the club performs across 4 different managers. The performances are similar, the results are similar, and the fans disappointment is the same.

It doesn't seem to matter who is manager, which players we sign or what fans say or do. It's almost like the problem is higher up and filtering a shower of rubbish down and not the other way around.

What is the clubs ambition? Every time the club scrape top 4 the investment dries up. It almost seems that the owners ambition is financially driven, keep the club in the sweet spot to keep the money rolling in but no more than that.

I think too many fans only really understand our club under Sir Alex, a man who had more power than those above him. Which is a broken system, but oddly worked because of Sir Alex's brilliance. Now fans expect a manager to be able to dictate the direction of the club. When in reality they are glorified coach, they picj the tactics and which players they play each week, but they have a limited impact on who the club bring in, or how much money is spent to bring those players in. Two managers have wanted Martial sold, Pogba has wanted to leave for 3-4 years but the club won't let either happen.

The manager will eventually get sacked, as is the fate for 90% of managers. But then the same people will hire the next manager, and pick the new transfers, and decide the direction of the club and we will be having the same discussions in 2-3 years time. Until the fans stop asking for the managers head and start shouting for the boards resignation very little will change.

Shappy.

Liverpool were drifing in a state of mediocrity (apart from suarez and sturridge season) between 2009 and 2017. Then klopp came along as an outstanding coach/ manager and changed their fortunes.

Tottenham were drifting in a state of medicority until pochetino came and transformed them into champions league finalists and premier league contenders. Almost unheard of for them.

Of course there are problems at board level but i still think a modern competent coach/ manager could get a lot more out of our resources.

DSG, In both cases with Klopp and Pochettino they had excellently run clubs. They had a clear vision, the manager was hired because they fitted that vision, they recruited players that suited that vision, and when everyone at a club pulls in the same direction then you can achieve things.

We don't have that. Until we do we will be stuck regardless of who the manager is.

Yes that's my point ed077, although i don't think Ole neccesarily needs to be sacked.

Maybe more just saying well done to Ole, youve taken us as far as you can, done a good job of trimming down the squad and wage bill and mutually agree to part ways at the end of his contract or at the end of the season.

{Ed077's Note - I think it's time OGS goes. IMO he has taken Utd as far as he could.

Just My opinion, nobody try to kill me now😁}

When the club have a poor board with poor vision AND a poor manager who lacks coaching ability it leaves us where we are. We can’t change the owners or board easily but can get a manager who do a lot better than at present.

The excuses of wait to change manager until we have an excellently run club are ridiculous because that could be years away. Change is needed now.

Red Man, you probably have a point, it could be decades until we are a well run club and we will likely have to drop lower than where we are for that to happen. 3-5 years without UCL qualification before the owners either decide to get their hands dirty and sort out the running of the club or to decide they haven't got the stomach for it and sell it on.

As fans we are going to have to accept that and appreciate that until we are run well that we will need to temper our expectations.

Probably something more in line with a top four finish, a cup run and maybe play some good football every few weeks.

We can't expect to see consistently good football, with great results every week. We can't go having a meltdown every time we draw a game, or god forbid lose one.

The club isn't run well enough to give any manager the platform they need to do that.
