The manager has said we are not title challengers and today we are playing relegation troubled West Brom. Wouldn't it be good to see two of Amad, Shoretire, Mejbri at least on the bench instead of the usual squad players like James.

It would be in the clubs tradition, but if we are only playing for top four surely it's a good opportunity to have them with the first team. Maybe Shoretire might not be physically ready but Mejbri looked the real deal when I saw him.

I would love to see Amad start with one of the other two on the bench. Will we? I doubt it, the same thought says McT and Fred shielding Lindelof and Maguire, more of the same.

Today seems a great moment to give hope with a couple of the young players.

Think Ole has got it right, these youngsters are training with the first team, but the likes of Hannibal is 12-18 months away from the first team. He is Bruno's long term replacement, so if Donny can't get a game, Hannibal has no chance at the moment.
Amad is also very raw, maybe give him a final 15-20 minutes but he is not near a start, especially ahead of Greenwood for whom he is competing for a position. Hugill and McNeill should also be training with the first team as both are showing huge potential to make the leap to mens football.
Shoretire needs to develop physically before he can be considered for the first team, he has play well for the under 23s lately though.

Red man or you can grossly underestimate West Brom at your peril or the competition for a top 4 finish.

I expect a really tough game this afternoon. West Brow will be well organised, sit deep and make it a really difficult game. We’ll have to work hard, win the second balls, concentrate and defend well at corners and set pieces. Personally I’d like us to press hard from the front, show a real energy and determine to win the ball back quickly and not allow West Brom any easy possession, pin them back and dominate the game. We don’t want to encourage them by giving away any unnecessary corners or free kicks. We have an opportunity today to cement our top four credentials and whilst City will almost certainly win the league we can’t allow them to simply walk away with it, we need to keep them honest and be in a position to capitalise should they drop some unexpected points.

In my opinion games like this are a crucial barometer of our progress. These are must win games if we have any aspirations of being title contenders and games we’ve badly struggled since SAF retired. Today is a test of attitude, temperament, character and concentration. Cliche I know but if we match their effort and determination we’ll win the game.

I think your post was possibly another subtle reference to Ole’s comments about not being title contenders and the truth is we’re not. We can’t live with City in this form, nobody can and unless we can start routinely winning games like today, Sheffield United and not stupidly throwing away points from winning positions with abject defending like against Everton we’ll never win the league.

Progress is in the eye of the beholder, I understand that but at the moment Ole is doing ok. At the moment we are the best of the rest. I agree that should never be good enough for Man Utd but at the moment it will have to do. It will take a collective effort for Utd to win the league and the board must deliver Ole the players in the summer for us to improve.

This is not the right game for the kids unfortunately but I think you know that anyway!

Hanibal and diallo both injured / ill for fri nights game and shortire is only 16. Anyway I agree with dilib its not the right time.
I also agree with one we are not title contenders i don't agree with someone in his position declaring that but it's the truth.

Ken - I’m not convinced by Ole, to be honest I don’t think anyone really is. I see a lack of innovation and imagination in both our style and approach but at the moment I think he’s doing a decent job and hope I’m wrong.

In my opinion the summer window was an absolute disaster and the real lack of ambition stems from the owners and decision makers at the Club. How much more evidence do we need that this Club continually fails to deliver players that our mangers actually want? They agonise, haggle and procrastinate over every deal, hand out ridiculously lucrative, long term contracts to fringe/ unwanted players and then fail to sell them resulting in a bloated squad and obscene wage bill.

The board, decision makers, incompetent fools or what ever you want to call them are failing spectacularly from a football perspective and any manger under their control is doomed to fail. Until we appoint a director of football, technical director or just put competent people in charge of running the football Club with a determination and plan to return us to the top the disappointment will continue, the fans will remain divided, the manager will always shoulder the blame and the title will remain out of reach.

If we do the unthinkable and sign Tyrone Mings in the summer then we might as well give up hope of ever seeing Utd win the league again. A football Club that basically replaces Smalling and Jones with Maguire and Mings for an outlay probably exceeding £120m deserves everything it gets and tells you everything you need to know about the people running our Club. Let’s hope this is just a vicious rumour and never happens.

I back Ole over the board and until he gets the players he really wants he has my support.

Sorry rant over!

I would have played Bailly today. The team plays loads better wiyh him in defence. Lindelof and Maguire don't work.

With don’t need Ole to tell me we’re not in the title race with McTom and Fred in front of Lindelof and Maguire.

Red Man, Amad Diallo is sick.
Mejbri is injured.
Shoretire played full 90 mins for U23's about 24 hours back.
Poor stick to bash Ole (face palm)

Yes SU, that was toothless attack and shambolic defending from us.
