Question:

If Utd win the EPL this season, does that make OGS a better manager than Klopp?

It took Klopp five and a half years to win it while OGS will have won it in two and a half!

BY that logic Ranieri won the league in his first year, with Leicester who nearly got relegated the season before.

And it took SAF more than half a decade to win the league with Man Utd so Ranieri is better than SAF? NOPE.

So OGS won't be better than Klopp even if he manages to win the league this year, which by the way is nowhere near a certainty.

No of course it doesn’t.

Although I think Klopp has lost his way a bit this season and has ended up playing mind games with himself rather than other managers, what he’s achieved at Liverpool is huge.

The trophies, the style of football and that magnificent home record stretching almost 4 years should be applauded.

He’s maintained a high level for such a long time, which we know ourselves can’t last forever.

And now they lose at home after all that time, and all of a sudden people are asking might Ole be a better manager than Klopp. It’s laughable it really is.

I'm guessing this is tounge and cheek right?

There is still a long way to go in the battle for the title, personally I think City will win it, and nothing is won in January. But as I've said before if you do win it I'll be one of the first to say well done. You don't win a league by accident or luck.

WYred, it is certainly tongue in cheek and I also think City will win it. You are also correct, you don't win a league by accident or luck.

On Ranieri, Jose won 2 EPL titles with what was largely a Ranieri team, apart from the difference maker Drogba. Although Ranieri claims the signing of Drogba to be his idea.

This year is an unusual season for many reasons. I think whatever happens this year you need to draw a line under it and see what happens next season to really judge how the land lies.

Liverpool played two seasons at absolute full tilt, collecting 97 and 99 points. Their style is very physically demanding, high and aggressive pressing. A lot of their players rank in the top ten in the league for presses, for distance covered, for sprints per game etc.

They have also been very lucky over the past two seasons with injuries, picking up very few and not often to first team regulars.

Then this season comes along, players haven't had a proper break between seasons, practically no pre-season, starting late and finishing at the same time compressing the number of games meaning most teams are playing twice a week all season.

For Liverpool with players who must be close to physical and mental exhaustion it appears too much. Players breaking down injured on a weekly basis. You need a completely different mentality to retain a title as opposed to winning it in the first place. While opponents see you as more of a scalp now and find that extra 10% against you.

Sir Alex used to say you had to work harder as a defending champion than as a challenger. I think for Liverpool they are finding that difficult this season.

That potentially opens a opportunity that hasn't existed in the previous three seasons. Where one of the best sides on paper are having an off season.

If we are able to take advantage of that then great, but that isn't the same as what Klopp did last season where his team had lost the title after getting 97 points, so they just went out and surpassed that to win it last season.

Winning the title is always a great achievement and whoever does it this year will deserve it. But the context on this season means it's an outlier and not the norm.

It really is bad at the moment 🤦‍♂️😁.

We deserve all the banter we get.

I've seen quite a few still on Oles case hard recently, and whilst I still don't think he's the man to return you to former glory. You're winning more often than not right now.

I think this is a season that people should forget style and just embrace winning.

From my personal experience this season every single game is a absolute slog.

Klopp has also won a UCL and was a UCL finalist the year before.

His team also plays swashbuckling football often which is something Ole needs to coach our team.

What has Jose's achievement got to do with Ranieri winning the league with Leicester?

Deependra, I was merely pointing out that Jose's achievement, in his first stint as Chelsea, could be partly attributed to Ranieri, as he was manager before Jose, just my opinion.

Unbearable Red. I posted early in the season that Klopp would run out of steam with this team from the way he plays and a difficult season was imminent. Quite reminiscent of His Dortmund after winning the league. You went on the offensive saying I was talking "tripe".

Wanna rethink your views there mate?

Mumbles, I think you're getting me mixed up with jred, I'm jrred, very similar I know, my apologies.

BTW I do agree with you that it is reminiscent of His Dortmund days. If you play with a certain style/ methodology then teams will suss out how to counter that.

The question for Liverpool fans is has Klopp got anything else in his locker?

The hard part of football management is being able to mix it up, adapt and discover. It is what makes SAF a freak of nature, to be able to stay at the top for so long, absolutely unbelievable.

It wasn't aimed at you jrred.

Unbearable Red is a Liverpool fan who went on the offensive a few months ago when I dare question Klopps ability to keep this level of performances up. Looks like they lack desire and motivation, which normally happens after you reach the top.

No Mumbles mate I still feel the same way. You're jumping the gun a bit there pal. But if you want to write us off when we have our first real bad patch of form in 3 years go for it.
