With so many rumours about players departing do we see any of the youth players stepping up to the senior squad and becoming part of the rotation next year.
For me I can see Ethan Laird possibly having a shot as back up to AWB as Williams did this year for Shaw. Outside of that I wonder whether some loans would be better.

Brad

Mejbri, if he keeps developing.

mengi - maybe, but depends on how many CBs we have on the books and if we bring any new ones in.

On a side note, i would love to see chong, garner and levit go out on loan to clubs like southampton, brighton as squad players as they have a greater chance of game time in the pl and the managers are pretty good and play in a style which will suit them if they are to have a career at united. Maybe sending them on loan for a season to villa as part of the grealish deal is an option, but clubs with heavy financial backing do not tend to take players on loan.

I think the three mentioned are the most likely, Mengi, Laird and Mejbri. They certainly look like the cream of the crop. But don't rule out a surprise player popping up. Williams didn't go on the pre-season tour last year and Laird was ahead of him.

The good thing with Ole is he will give you a chance if the opportunity arises. He could have played a more experienced player out of position at LB when we had several injuries there, but he didn't. He looked to the academy and gave Williams his chance. He took it, and that's the key thing. Ole will give players chances, but it's down to them to take those chances.

Garner looks like he will go out on loan. Which I think he needs. I think Chong and Gomes needed loans this season, but it wasn't to be.

Mengi I think will find it the hardest to break through as we currently have 7 first team CB's, and are possibly looking to sign someone else. While 2-3 might leave that still puts 5 first team players ahead of him for two positions.

Laird might have a similar issue. AWB, Dalot, Shaw, Williams and TFM are ahead of him. Although he has a better chance as Dalot and Shaw do pick up injuries.

Mejbri looks a top player in the making. While with Gomes leaving and a lack of quality in the first team in the attacking midfield positions he might jump ahead of the other older two and get his chance sooner. Especially if 1 or 2 of Mata, Pereira and Lingard leave.

Laird and Mengi are definitely part of the "B" squad and can play. I'm not sure if Mejbri was added to it in January.

Limbo currently, he has yet to sign with a new side. Apparently Lille were interested last I heard.

Ken, I don’t think they need to be named due to age, but maybe that’s changed due to CV19? I’d be shocked if we don’t see a few against lask especially as they are training again. Laird and garner already featured with mengi on the bench in Astana too.

Would be great Ken. Good crop of youngsters coming through and mejbri looks every bit a united player.
