Jadon Sancho OR Ferran Torres.
Who will you want at our club?

Sancho, if we can't sign him would like to see the club give greenwood the chance to step up next season and play with martial and rashford.

Sancho makes more sense, far less likely to struggle to adapt to the league or the culture.

While Ferran Torres want's to play for Barcelona one day, so will likely want to move within the next few years. While Barcelona want to sign him as well.

If we can't get Sancho then there are other options I feel could be worth looking at. Emi Buendia has had a great season and has all the attributes to kick on if he went to a bigger side. David Brooks could be an option if he has fully recovered, although due to his injury he could be seen as a gamble. Yet his absence from the Bournemouth line up this season has seen them drop from comfortable mid to top half table team down to relegation candidates. While a potential none EPL proven option could be David Neres from Ajax who has looked a great and constant threat from the right hand side when played there.

While if we aren't able to sign the right sort of player, then we could look within our sqaud. It would give James, Greenwood, Chong or even Dalot the chance to step up and make the RW role their own.

{Ed002's Note - Neres is not an option.}

DSG - I completely agree mate, I think Greenwood could be fantastic off the right especially against teams where we will dominate possession. Whilst not typically a winger I wouldn't expect him to provide width but play in the channel between centre back and full back. He is incredibly dangerous with the ball in and around the box as he can shoot from either foot with unnerving power and accuracy. If he can continue to work hard and stay humble from what I've seen I think we genuinely have one of the most promising young players in world football.

I'd love to see him given more game time if the season resumes especially against teams where we will dominate possession. Maybe we already have the answer right under our nose!

Sancho has enormous potential and is another British player whom we could be moulding the team around.
If we cannot get him, I'd go for Adama Traore.

Sancho out of the two.

However, I'd prefer we went for Chiesa for the right wing. Signing Sancho would probably limit what else we could do in the market based on the Ed saying he will cost a ridiculous amount.

Ed, is Champions League football still a necessity for Sancho? It's something I don't think we'll be able to offer next year.

{Ed002's Note - For now it has been made clear that he would not consider a move to a club without CL.}

Shappy I am surprised you left out I. Sarr.

Mbd, I like Sarr, but he looks very raw. Against Liverpool he looked a world beater, but against sides that don't give you as much space in behind down the flanks he had had a very mixed season.

I think we have some frightening players who can play on the counter, such as Martial, Rashford and James. What we lack is a clever wide player, a more technical dribbler rather than a knock a run dribbler. Someone who can ghost past teams when they sit deep and open up a chance. I feel Sarr is better playing on the counter.

Buendía and Brooks are both EPL proven and more technical dribblers.

Domenico Berardi at Sassuolo is a very good player at a good age too. Don't know if he has been looked at by the club or not.

Greenwood is not a rw solution imo.
Im very hopeful he will be our 1st choice cf within 18 months. Huge potential.
Unless we sign a couple of new midfielders we are not likely to dominate possession too often dlib. We have not done that much all season and don't have players in midfield that are designed to keep possession. Nor is our team set up to dominate possession which is fine as long as we are effective women when we have possession.
Bruno fred mctom and pogba all lose the ball a lot and give up possession consistently.

While I agree that Greenwood isn't the solution to our RW, that doesn't mean he can't be an effective player out there over the next 1-2 years.

Rooney played LW for us for more than a couple of seasons.

While Greenwood has 12 goals from 15 starts while playing on the right wing. So I am more than confident that he could do well there for a season or two.

The issue though is that beyond Rashford, James and Greenwood we have very few if any quality options on the flanks. I'm not sure going into next season where Greenwood is first choice and there is little to no other options is a good idea. He will need resting and potentially taking out of the firing line if he has a poor run of form (which is almost a certainty for a teenager) .

So even if Sancho doesn't sign we will need to look at other options. I've mentioned Buendía and Brooks as possible alternatives, while Adama Traore has been mentioned (who I really like, but feel he is most effective playing counter attacking football, and I feel we need a wide player who can pick the lock of a deep defence) . So there are other options out there.

Can’t say I’ve actually watched any of Torres, but a guy I really like and I know Ed has said he should maybe be someone we look too and that is Chiesa.

I like Sancho but I’d go for adama over him, pl proven, perfect for how we break, cheaper and also not too young to potentially stop any of greenwood James and Chong having a fair shot.

Red Whiskey, I really like Adams Troare, and while I feel he is an upgrade on Dan James I'm not sure he is an ideal solution to our problems going forward.

We have show time and again that we are probably the most dangerous counter attacking side in the league. However, we struggle when there isn't space in behind to exploit. While I feel Bruno has gone some way to fixing that issue we still lack that clever wide player with the technical ability to dribble in tight spaces.

Otherwise we will suffer the same issues next season of struggling to breakdown deep sitting teams. We need to become more multifaceted in out play and less predictable. Stop teams from being able to nullify us.

Sancho is in some ways the best of both worlds, very quick and able to play on the break, but also a very technical dribbler who can work in tight spaces and create openings. Which is why for me he should be our first choice.

Shappy and co what do you think of Ryan Fraser? Is he just an older version of Dan James?

19.) 27 May 2020
27 May 2020 11:51:10
Mbd, he's a solid player, low centre of gravity, hard to knock off the ball. But primarily plays on the left. With Rashford and James I don't think there is much need for a player like him.

Ronaldo started out wide and gradually moved inside. Might be good for Greenwood. If our midfielders scored more too it would ease the burden on our forwards. That said it was great to see wingers playing on both flanks. Hill and Coppell. Giggs and Beckham/ Kanchelskis. All players who played predominantly on the wings but could switch sides and play through the middle too. Used to torment defenders. Wish we saw more of it.
