What's everyones thoughts on a cut price deal for Christian Erikson in January?

EPL proven and will be a huge upgrade on Andreas for the no 10 role.

Set-piece specialist and has a good passing range.
At 27, he will be at his peak now.

stay clear, its obvious he has downed tools since the summer becuase he was not allowed to leave,

whats to say he wouldn't do the same here?

look at Ramsey he was leaving but still gave 100 in every game.

he might be a good player but i wouldn't touch him.

Its a tricky one. He is a proven EPL player approaching his peak. I wouldn't was he has downed tools because he wasn't allowed to leave. Another player had an affair with his wife, which has caused tension in the dressing room.

I have two issues with him, first he has rarely performed when up against the top sides. Which isn't ideal for us.
Second, he doesn't really want to join us, his heart is set on Spain. However, that might not be possible. It stinks of Di Maria, a player who wanted to move elsewhere, but couldn't get there so we were the fall back option.

We need to steer clear of players who don't want to be at the club and aren't going to give their all for the club, no matter how talented their are, or how much we might need a player in that position.

I'd rather wait until the summer and sign a player who wants to be at United.

I think we need a couple of ‘for now’ signings.

Erikson has PL experience and maybe a point to prove.
A big yes for me.

If we can build a spine of experience it will make it easier to bring in this youth generation.

I’m down for Manduzick too.

Erikson is a wonderful footballer. Would walk into our first 11 and is available. We won't get a better player in January.

Shappy, all involved in that rumour of an affair have denied it. Not very nice to using that against the lad. Unless of course you were hiding under the bed?

Allegedly 🙄.

I don’t think he wants to join us, and can’t see why he would when he’ll be a free agent in the summer.

how much of that story is true is anyone guess.

He rejected our offer in the summer, so why go fo him? He's a fantastic footballer, but his heart is set on Spain. Wait until the summer and go for Maddison, a United fan who will suit us. Also, Fernandes will also be a good addition and I'm sure we can get him in January if we tried. He's carried on with the good work at SL this year, he's only 24 and creates and scores plenty.

I agree we need a couple of now signings. He would knit the front 3 (who do look dangerous at times) together.
If he signs in Jan it would be because he wants to come as he will be free agent in the summer.
He is a very good player and ud live to see him sign he would get more from our front players. Add his set piece a ability and you get another box ticked. A big yes from me.

Mumbles, I think you misunderstand me. Firstly, the affair would be denied whether it happened or not. I've been told by someone who has links within football that it did happen. Regardless, I wasn't using that against Eriksen, I was using it in defence of him. People are suggesting he has downed tools because he didn't get his move, while I'm suggesting that off the field events outside of his control may well be affecting him.

As for your assessment "is a wonderful footballer. Would walk into our first 11 and is available. We won't get a better player in January". Couldn't that have been said about Alexis Sanchez?

Sanchez wanted to join City in the summer, it was blocked. Then he joined us in the January.

Eriksen wanted to join Real Madrid in the summer.

Di Maria wanted to join PSG, but we swooped in and priced them out of the market due to FFP rules. Then a year later we sold Di Maria at a loss to PSG.

Pogba wanted to join Real Madrid, then we swooped in and priced them out of a deal. Now he is pushing to leave and putting in half arsed performances.

I appreciate Eriksen would be our best out field player if we signed him. But at some point we have to appreciate that signing players who don't want to truly play for us just isn't working.

We've got one half-arsed footballer already in Pogba.

If it was true it wouldn't necessarily be denied. The thing is, the people involved said it wasn't true, but I'll trust your "contact" in the world of football over them.

Fact is, even on his worst day, he's a better footballer than Lingard or anyone that can play No.10, better than anything we can get and wouldn't break the bank. Ole needs reinforcements in January or he could well be out of a job come February.

Your fact about the comparisons to him and Sanchez are entirely valid. But it is a risk we should be taking to get in a player that will improve our squad.
