Very young squad by the sounds of it going over to Astana. Great to see and it will be a great experience. One player to watch out for is most certainly Ethan Laird. He's arguably a lot better than Williams. Hope to see him get his chance. I wonder if Mejbri will be taken with the squad too.

Great opportunity for them. Laird is a top prospect by all accounts. Carrick and mckenna staying behind with the snr players to prepare for the villa game. We might do better v villa with less input form ole all week.

No Mejbri

The squad is Lee Grant, Matej Kovar, Max Taylor, Luke Shaw, Axel Tuanzebe, Dylan Levitt, Teden Mengi, DiShon Bernard, Largie Ramazani, Ethan Laird, Ethan Galbraith, Arnau Puigmal, D'Mani Bughail-Mellor, James Garner, Jesse Lingard, Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes, Mason Greenwood.

Glad to see Lingard in there, means he'll likely not start again at the weekend.

Max Taylor as well. Twelve months after chemotherapy. Great story amongst all the doom and gloom. Good on him.

Really looking forward to watching this one. I've no doubt there will be mistakes and frustrations, with that many youngsters on the same pitch, but I also hope we see some youthful vigour, flair and freedom. Who knows, we may see a breakout performance from a future OT legend on Thursday. This is why I love this club. It's ethos and raison d'etre, not my trophy cabinet is bigger than yours, or this manager isn't as good as that one.

Really Stevie. I couldn't give a toss who the manager is or who the players are. They all come and go I've no loyalty to any of them. When they are here and performing great when they go its a case of good riddance for me. When they go its a case of thanks for the memories now who is next.
If they are here and not performing i want rid of them. I support the club not it's transient employees.
Its only very marginally more preferable to me to produce a player through the academy than it is to sign one.
Each to their own. They're is no right way to support the club, team or players. That's why there is very little agreement on here. Each supporter places a different value on each aspect of the club.
I wouldn't cross the road to shake hands or meet 95% of our players past or present. They are just blokes who play for the club i support. They are not hero's to me. But i respect they are to many. Its just a different perspective.

I believe every player and manager, no matter how fleeting their stay, or the size of their contribution, has played a part in moulding together the rich history of this club. But my point above, was to do with the fact that the club is not just about trophies or employees, it's about an ethos which sets us apart from the other big clubs, and one of those is bringing young players through the academy.

I suspect many others of a certain age, still get a buzz seeing one of the young lads stepping up to the first team. Winning or losing isn't the be all and end all, or we would all have stopped following them years before Fergie came along. I think a lot of us lose sight of that, in an age where instant success is demanded.

great to see more youngsters getting a taste of first team action if you watch the u23,s but especially u18,s we have got some fantastic talent in the acedemy at the moment. an earlier post mentioned hannibal mejbri who is now showing his talent in u18,s and playing well but he's still only 16yr old.

We have invested heavily in brining young players to the club.
I agree noucamp that some want instant success.
Its not just about winning for me its about committing to win and i would like to have some pride in my team.
We as a team to not impose ourselves on the opposition and havnt for some time. That's were i see the negativity in our current set up. We are completely submissive and reactionary in our decision making.
I can handle being beat no problem add long as we are trying to win and trying to compete.
I have been proud of many a united team that has lost. But i'm ashamed of this team at the moment.
No 1 person is to blame that's for sure but the mentality is all wrong for me. All wrong.

The players didn't appear to be putting it all in under Jose either. If he can't get them onside, with his pedigree, then how can we slate Ole for it? I've still not seen as negative performances under Ole as I did against Seville or Liverpool under Jose. Poor perhaps, but not negative. Ole got criticised, possible rightly, for trying to shut up shop against Sheffield too early, but I've yet to see him set up shop from the very first minute, the way Jose did.
